The OEM bolts aren't long enough....you need longer ones so they don't strip out of the transmission housing

Review

I installed this with my AFE Short Shifter. The install went without a hitch and this thing makes the coolest little sound in my car. It also gives you a bit of confidence when shifting quickly. There's a nice little gate to make sure you don't over shift when driving aggressively.

I recommend people to make the final adjustments prior to bolting it on. Run through the gears to make sure that it is properly adjusted for each gate.

Great product!

I got mine in a couple of days ago along with the clutch pedal reinforcement kit. It looks well built and solid, but mine also only came with the 4 short bolts (stamped "8.8 JH") for holding the front and back plates to the base plate.

Before I contact RR, can someone tell me how many bolts are supposed to come with? Mine came with:
- (2) long bolts stamped "CS 4.8" w/ no washers
- (1) medium bolt stamped "SC 4.8" w/ small washer
- (2) short bolts stamped "CHS 4.8", 1 w/ small washer and 1 w/ large washer

That is the correct amount for the CPB kit.

I have a quick question about the syncro saver.

I've had it installed for quite a while now, very very happy with it. But...

If you set it up correctly so the side of the shift level barely touches the metal frame, you'll get a slight vibration whenever you are in a gear that has no clearance between the frame.

I have adjusted it numerous times so every gear is tight and makes no vibration, except for third gear.

Now my question is. Instead of re-adjusting the whole frame, would you recommend i put a piece of electrical tape or duct tape where the shift lever hits the frame in third gear? I fear the tape might dissentegrate and fall into the shifter box from the sheer heat of the tranny. I've had a couple rx7's where the shift boots completely melted into the shifter box, definetely a problem.

I just got mine and it only came with the 4 small bolts holding the adjustable plates to the base plate. It didn't come with the 3 M6X1.0 20MM bolts. I used the "contact" function on the website and am awaiting a reply. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

I didn't write in until reading the most recent reply. I received an immediate explanation and apology, and they said they're sending the missing bolts. Contact them at their "sales" email address.

I got an email back from Brice stating that the packer was shipping it without the bolts because they were out of stock. He said he would send them to me asap. Regardless, I picked up the bolts at Lowes for 97 Cents.

That is the correct size thank you for bringing it to my attention. I have ordered the bolts but they won't be here until next week. I will also refund the $3 to your account for the difference.

Anyone else that had this issue please email me or pm.

Thanks

Brice

^^ No my car does not vibrate. It only makes the noise while moving, obviously.

Brice,

I was also having the same issue with the bolts. I took my shifter off once and now I can't get the top left bolt (one of 3 OEM bolts) into any of the threads.

Although the other two bolts are holding it, I'm afraid the constant beating from the shifting might damage something.

ive had this thing installed for about 4 months now i like it a lot but i have a question now. when i installed it i adjusted it so the shifter would just rest on the plate. when i put things back together it seems the boot pulls the shifter off the plate just a little bit and only on the odd gears. so my question is do i need to move that plate back a little bit or should i remove the boot?

Installed this on my wife's car. I like it, I can feel the positive stop of the shifter (even though I don't overshift). Probably more telling, my wife doesn't even know it's there.

Got the bolts you need coming your way!

Hmm that is a first, I never had that issue with the boot. It is possible to readjust if necessary.

Thanks Brice for the prompt response!

Aside from not having the bolts, the kit itself is rather simple but it sure does the job. I can shift REALLY hard now and not worry about damaging something. It just gives you more confidence overall.

Paired with my AFE Short Shifter....this thing really kicks ***!
