Only a few people have them and the ones that do enjoy them I would say there are 15-20 units out there. Not everyone is extremely vocal but, whenever I need a fair and impartial review I always go to Juan (marsredr100). He will be the first to tell me something sucks in a heartbeat.

Thanks for clearing up the use. I guess it's more for those that drive spirited all the time though, I'm a tad careful even when I do drive spirited, and have the SS. Mine doesn't really seem to be going further once engaged, but then again I also had to dremel the SS a bit for reverse so maybe mine's a tight fit either way.

[QUOTE=Fluid Motorsports;2946851]To clear up the confusion here,

This product stops the driver from forcing the shift lever past the point where the transmission is already in gear. During overshifting the synchronizer is forced farther on the hub than required for proper operation. This actually attempts to stretch the synchronizer cone over the hub which can distort the soft synchronizer changing the clearances and eventually may cause the synchronizer to actually break.
[Quote]

your missing part of the picture

Over shifting has caused synchronizer problems in transmissions for years, not just in Mazda automobiles but across a wide range of vehicles.
I'd be really interested in seeing these... talking to two mechanics that are firends of mine, another car forum, and a google search has come up empty...

If you look at many aftermarket shifters (for domestic vehicles) this is why they have shifter stops incorporated into them.
they have stops in them because most of the time the domestic shiters you order from a Jegs catalog are "universal fit":

on the mustangs I had, all the name brand short shifters had stops built into them...they were application specific not universal jegs crap.

so what Brice says about the stops is absolutely correct in how they function and makes sense (to me anyway) that the synchro saver works the same way.

really,

i find that odd. are you able to change shifters?

something that does nothing to enhance preformance yet protects the transmission is not allowed. how wrong is that?

nope ... having to live with certain faults from the manufacturer is part of the Stock Class game

not failing is a performance enhancement WRT racing since it ensures that you make it to the finish

Ha! At least you're getting some type of response. I've sent 2 emails and have had no response from them for a refund. It's still sitting in the package.

After getting customer feedback on pricing we have decided to adjust pricing to $125.

The change in price is reflected on the website for ordering purposes.

installed one of these the other day.

In an honest evaluation, and i have done every other mod on my car imagineable, its a good insurance policy. It doesnt really change much except for driver error. You will not be able to overshift IF YOU SET IT CORRECTLY. the people who are complaining about coming out of gear or still making noise do not have it installed properly

you should be able to hear a click after you are in gear fully. if it comes out of gear adjust it. that simple

Now when i drive i am not concerned about what happens if i slam into gear real quick or leave my hand on the gear shift while driving..

recommended. i like it. there are other pointless things you spend even more on so why not.

^^

Agree.

Also, you have to take the top portion off and flip it upside down to fit properly (I had to anyways). How it came, the bottom gears had too much space and could still be over-shot (although, you're more likely to overshift in 1,3,5 than 2,4,6..).

I've had the syncho savers in now for about 3 weeks. They were very simple to install and have no problems post install. I have no idea as to whether they will save me synchros and frankly I don't care, that is not why I bought this product.

I bought the product because I liked the definitive clicking sound that comes with each shift - it puts a smile on my face On that front, this mod is great! Hey, we do a lot of mods for sound, right? Why not this one!!! Recommended.

I have had this on my car for over 7,000 miles now and tranny is still healthy. No problems at all... none of the popping out of gear stuff going on which some are complaining about. I also feel very confident changing gears during WOT because I know I will not overshift. Also one thing this keeps me happy is that everytime I hear a click I am sure that I am in gear!
