Richard, you wanted me to grease the "ramp".....that's the horizontal shaft protruding either side of the pivot ball???

Once you get about 100 miles driven with the shifter, the transmission gear oil will work it's way up there and lubricate everything nicely.

Yeah, I did notice the old shifter only had a tiny bit of grease left on it!

I stayed up late last night to follow Gomez's tortuously protracted review and today my shifter was on the door step (Thanks Richard). During the install I measured the stock shifter at the top of the shaft. The throw from 1st to 2nd was almost 3.5” (that’s 8.89 cm to you folks down under) I checked again after installing the RP shifter and it was reduced to 2.5” (6.35 cm). If my math is right, isn’t that around a 40% reduction.

I was honestly worried it would be a bit too close till I pulled it out of the garage. I found reverse easily and every other gear for that matter. The shifts are more precise and definitely effortless. I can now rest the side of my hand on the e-brake and run through every gear with my just fingertips.

As far as vibrations I notice nothing significant as compared to stock but I only have about 30 miles on it. I did notice the neutral shake of the shifter seems less probably due to the shorter throw also.

I think the RP shifter is a winner and if it’s performance holds up to further evaluation will probably rate right up there with my RB suspension for positive vehicle improvement.

Thanks again Richard. I think you got this one just right.

Sorry about the protracted review, but I only kept you up 'till 11....that's when I posted 4th gear! You did stay up too late though, that's a 29% reduction!

Another happy customer Richard....

Ut Oh, If that is the right number then it is 40% :o
I have to admit that I didn't take into account the shorter length of the stick. :o
That shouldn't be that much of a difference though.
Tomorrow I'd better go check all the numbers just so there is no argument.

Wait a second. It is a 29% reduction. It is a 40% increase if you figure the other way. Your both right except Gomez is more so as the term is Reduction in throw.

Man was I quick to doubt myself or what?

My measuring device was pretty crude. I held a measuring tape over the top of the shaft (without ****) and measured the total travel of bare shaft front to back. Whatever the reduction is, it feels right. Happy customer.

Same here. I tried hanging a plumb bob off the mirror to use as a reference but it was too much of a PITA. I ended up using the centre of the A/C selector as a point of reference.

Dannobre,

I hope it wasn't too bad. When I think if the number of bones I broke as a kid and trips to the emergency room I am more thankful every day I have girls (at least for now ).

Best wishes

By the way, I didn't have to pull the ash tray, only the center console trim surrounding the shifter. But, those little plastic harness connectors on the studs were a real bear. I think it took longer to rock them off than the rest of the job combined. Is there a release somewhere?
