I removed the MAF sensor and placed it in here to see if there would be a sealing problem. The seal seems to be fine so I'm going to install it tomorrow and call racing beat monday for a replacement. Anyone else have something similiar happen?
Scroll back a few pages- they all appear to be that way... the MAF sealing o-ring doesn't need much room so that should be fine.

We are talking about the thin black piece on the front side of the engine compartment. It is below the VFAD ductwork. After you remove the white styrofoam, and the nose support piece, you will see it. It's not important if you leave it or not. I decided to leave it off.

This piece has to come out per Racing Beat.

I thought he was talking about the tray on the bottom.

If your talking about the top black plastic cover, I re-installed mine. i do believe your suppose to. I'll have to check the instructions again.

Guess what? I drove a new Shinka today. They want to give me a good deal.

The stock car is so............................ slow......................

The RB intake makes a Big difference. Now I have the RB cat back too, so that helps.

The acceleration at low RPM and highway cruzin is much more responsive due to the torque increase of the REVI.

If you think this air intake mod doesn't do much ask the other members.
Best investment for the money.

And wasn't it only recently that someone tried to argue that Racing Beat wasn't any different than other companies out there?

Hmmm.

The REVi complements the REV8 (imagine that ). With just the exhaust it's as if the fade control is turned to the rear and now with the REVi it's balanced front to back. Cruising is quiet but get on it and sound is everywhere.

Add me to the installed REVi list. This intake does make a difference. I 've noticed the same performance gains others have mentioned.

The install wasn't near the chore I thought it would be - pretty damned easy. I did drop the lil red vfad cap though and my 8 ate it. Went ahead and used the golf tee mod.

Btw - I didn't remove my bumper completely nor did I uncable the fog lights. Didnt have to touch the styrofoam. Just popped the top of the bumper out and kind of pushed it down and out of the way. I had plenty of room to take the vfad off. Doing it this way made it a lot easier imho.

I placed my order with Jason at the RX8 Store. I got mine like 3 days after I ordered it! He processed my order so quickly and had it dropped shipped from Racing Beat. Jason Rocks! I just finished installing my REVi right now and wow! I do feel that my car has more torque, but only when past 4500rpm. I guess I just haven't driven it enough to find out the rest of the story. Gotta go test drive now!!

I ordered from Jason as well.. Mine arrived today, Racing beat screwed up the drop ship so Jason had it overnighted and set it for Saturday delivery. That is what I call customer service...

Just ran through my second tank on the REVi. I went 295.5 miles combined highway and windies. That's 19.8 mpg. Has any one noticed an increase since installing the REVi? This was about 30 more miles than I expected. Here's hoping this isn't a fluke.

Just installed mine today. The sound is definitely "throatier" than before. I am not feeling any real noticable gains from the intake. However, I had my 8 tuned well with the CZ previously. I've got a bit more tuning to go but we'll see.

I did notice though that I had to really increase the fuel delivery on the AFR maps after putting in the REVi. Before I was running -24% on most of the tuning cells above 6500 rpm. Now I'm down near -13%. So, if you are coming from a non-CZ RX-8 you are probably going to notice gains up high.

Ordered mine from RX8store and installed it Saturday without a problem.

Great service from Jason and awesome quality from Racing Beat!

I definitely think this was a worthy upgrade. The car is much "peppier" and revs a little more freely and the sound is a bonus! Plus, I got the most miles out of the first quarter tank of gas yet. Anyone sitting on the fence regarding this purchase should jump in, the water is fine.

Now, I guess I should heed my own advice and order the RB cat back. :D

Thank you Nemesis, i'll have to see when I do the install whether I will keep it off or not. I wonder what the overall concensus is?

No Buzz here. It's quiet as stock until I open it up. Then it's more of a "rotary roar" than a buzz. What RPM does this occur?

Maybe you have a wasp inside your intake ;-) no buzz either... just pure rotary roar....

Can wait to finish my work day to drive my 8 again...

Did you secure the air box properly? You can get a short-handled 1/4" ratchet in there.
