Further Update... just had the intake installed today, I have the Racing Beat exhaust already. You know what? - this is a great update to the car. I don't know what story dyno numbers would tell, but the drivability of the car is much improved over stock. The combination of the intake and exhaust feels great, and sounds even better. At idle and low rpm around town it is not much different from stock - get into it and it has a very rewarding, powerful sound, and definately feels fast. If you are on the fence regarding this intake, get off it and get yourself one - you won't regret it.

I guess the few bucks you save ordering it from RX8store instead of Racing Beat is made up with the lack of instructions! Gotta save somehow!

I ordered mine from rx8store and I had my instructions in the mail from racing beat the day before my intake came from UPS.

That's weird. I ordered from RX8store and mine shipped with the instructions right on the box. It comes directly from RB either way so it really shouldn't matter. I know I am happy with the $20 savings!

Wow, it seems the RB intake is worth the $300! I'm in the process of convincing the wife that I "NEED" this...lol

I might wait...and get a mid pipe and an exhuast to go with the intake....and install them at the same time to really get a boost! Who am I kidding...I can't wait for that and convincing the wife I need this $300 toy is hard enough let alone talking about spending about 1K.

I too would love to hear how it sounds AND see some fuel economy numbers put up. So far I avg 19.1mpg in my 8 in mainly city driving but if the intake could give me one more mpg, I could use it as a selling point with the wife...lol.

"Honey...I'm just trying to save us money, that's all" LOL

One more thing...if later on someone got a Turbo, could they keep their REVi intake? I would hate to buy it, love it, and then in the future have to remove it becuase it would not work with a turbo or SC. What do you think?

You'd more than likely have to sell it--as most turbo systems come with an intake. You shouldn't have any problems finding takers for it though.

The only reason why they say MT only is because they have not tested it with an auto 8--however since both intakes are the same it will work. I emailled them about this specifically. I definately plan on getting one--especially if it gives a little better gas mileage.

Installed last night... very easy installation, no problems whatsoever. I could tell the difference in the car as soon as I pulled out of the driveway... it definately has more horsepower and more torque. The car feels "more free" now... like it's supposed to have this. Sounds really good too - not loud at all - not ricer sounding, just real nice. Compliments the RB exhaust very well.

I've noticed too that when just crusing I'm running at a lower RPM (about 3 rpms lower than normal - which should help out the mpg), and when you get past about 4,500 it really starts to pull and you start hearing that intake sing.

I'm pretty hard to please, and I think this intake is worth it... so if you're on the fence about whether to get this product or not - I say go for it!

about 3 rpms lower than normal
What does that mean exactly? "3 rpm's lower"? Like...3750 vs 3747? How would you tell that since we only go by the slash and numbers jumping by 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5....

Note: I know the RPM gauge is more detailed than that, but what do you mrean by "3 rpm's lower"?

Well I usually run about 3,700 rpms in 4th gear doing about 50 mph. I noticed after installing the intake that the rpms were about 3,400 doing the same.

I did not notice a difference in RPM at cruising, 60 in 6th gear was still 3k RPM, just like before. It does idle a little higher, right at 1k, compared to the ±950 it was before.

Installing an intake changes rpm : mph ratio?? gear ratios stayed the same, final drive ratio stayed the same, wheel and tire size stayed the same. 4the gear is 1.19, final drive is 4.44, assuming stock wheel/tire diameter. by my calculations you should have always been at 3400rpm at 50 mph. and about 54mph at 3700rpm.

Unless the REVi modifies some very basic laws of physics this is not possible. I have it but have not yet got it installed, so I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of this wrinkle in the space/time continuum :D

But what about S/C? Think you'd still have to swap it out?

Well I have the intake istalled (since Friday) and I enjoy it for many reasons. First It sounds great no "Buzzing" sound. I also have the RB CatBack and the RP super cat installed with the Canzoomer 1.1. Coupled altogether. I filled my tank with 93 octane fuel on Sunday and have 190+ miles so far with a quarter tank left to go. I have NEVER had this type of mileage before. Usually I get aboyt 170 miles on 1 full tank. Very awsome mod. I am glad I waited for it. It is almost like a new car because it is breathing nicely all the way through now. The car feels so much more responsive and it gets up and goes so much easier now. The only other performance mod I am getting is the light weight flywheel. Then I think I will Dyno just to see what I have created.

I thought Jason had RB drop ship for him. That was the case with my REV8. Is it different with the REVi?

So, is there only 1 customer dyno on the REVi as of now? I've only seen Marietta 8's .

Mine is supposed to arrive on Friday. Since this thread has been whipping me up in to a vertiable frenzy, I'm taking the day off to install it. I plan on doing a dyno in the morning, going home to install, and the returning to get the post-install dyno done. If my plan doesn't fall through, I'll post my results Friday night.
