Im also interested in RB header but seriusly I dont think it will gain any HP or just a few.

designing a good header for the RX-8 is not easy, thats why RB has taken so long time to do it and I still dont think it will gain so much.

Look at OBX header for example, you will loose 5hp with it.

RE-Amemiya has a special made header as well but it costs alot and have long delivery time, he dosent claim any hp gains either, wounder why? maybe the OEM header is close to perfect already.

lose 5 hp maybe, but where in the powerband does that loss occur? does it occur consistently in all weather conditions? is the loss linear across the entire rpm range? all the cars that have tested it... are they all tuned the same? are they tuned at all? does it lose 5 horsepower no matter what other modifications have been done to the car? does the car lose or gain any throttle response? at what part of the powerband is this car used the most?

these are things to think about when measuring the effectiveness of a modification. now, i'm not saying that the obx header does or doesn't, or that any other header does or doesn't, i'm just saying. peak horsepower numbers are for dyno queens. it kind of sucks to make such an assumption about a product based on a few dyno charts of cars that might be running in an vastly different environment than yours, with vastly different modifications.

if you actually care about nothing but peak horsepower, you're a sucker.

I don't see how the OBX can lose power. Many RX-7 people say the same thing about Pacesetter headers on those cars but I can tell you from experience that while they aren't the best things in the world, the gain is quite noticable. Sadly the days of exhaust mods unlocking huge rotary power are gone.

EVERY design that RB tried has given about the same gains in power and this one will be no different. It's about 4-5 hp PEAK gain. That's it. No different than anyone else's headers.

Yeah, the cast OE logafold also has heat protection built in, so headers will need to be wrapped for sure. The only benefit is sound I guess.

Does anyone know if the RB header will be lighter than OEM?

they use double wall piping on the OE manifold for emissions purposes only, quicker warm-up and cat light-off

Me and my companion Mikael brainboosted tonight over an idea of doin a "2 step header".Reason is that when you having a to big diameter in the outlet the torque will suffer. But when you have a smaller diameter in the collector you will gain torque. Combine now these 2 variables and you have a 2 step header. We dicscussed about it for 1/2 an hour, and tomorrow we shall draw some schematics over the prototype idea. How much horsepower is we gonna see? Topend wise not much over 10 hp but the goal is to find another 10 hp in the lower rpms. If everythings will work out fine we hope to have a prototype for testing in December.

Stepped headers when done properly will slightly widen the powerband at the expense of slightly less peak horsepower. The same is true about megaphone collectors. They also do the same thing.

in general yes, because all anyone is talking here is generalities that have little to do with the Renesis exhaust specifics

sorry lasse, fail

Per my telecom with Racing Beat this header DOES NOT need tuning to provide gains. I have the "Street Flash" and when I asked them about tuning for the header the guy in the office asked their engineer who said it was not needed.

This kind of backwards from what we know about other designs.

we should have answers to all (or most) of that by SevenStock (the 27th)
I would imagine they'll make their debut at the show.

I'll post pics / prices

Well noise+noise=super noise. I want super noise Right now all i have is noise.
Wont there be a more significant gain in performance added with a supercharger?

Dam this is good guys. California is asking that hybrid electrics need a noise maker to make them safer and some where in there we can fit in to with the hole noise issue. Remember when we got a green award? lol

California asks for alot of unreasonable things. Actually almost everything there is unreasonable.
