the obx is actually a pretty good header for its price and the hp gain is the same as your $500+ header.

^Dude get a used OBX Header. I did.

FYI; If your going to get a after market Header get a new OEM o2 bung. They tend to seaze to the exhaust manifold.

I dont know if anyone has told you that or if you have read that or not, but after reading about all the OBX header installs everyone had this issue. Even my Friend. So dont get stuck on your install. Good luck man.

another bad design in the obx header is the collector, if dosnt merge like the racingbeat header its simply 3 pipes that are pinched down and welded to a circle flange= shitty flow
look at the racingbeat header and you will see a smooth merge style collector, wich will flow the best.

remember in a n/a application you need a well engineered part, not just some stainless pipes that are called a header.. if you want good power gains pony up and get a racingbeat header. the most h/p money can buy in a production style rx8 header!
thats not true, speed source rx8's are using the same setup header as the RE AMEMIYA and obx with the o2 bung on a single runner.speed source has probably the fastest N/A rx8s.

If a person applies heat with a torch at the o2 bung till it turns orange the sensor should come out with a couple taps on the wrench.

I agree though the first time I had an issue getting the sensor out.

i was leaning toward the obx, but now changed my mind and will save up money and go for the racingbeat one.

The O2 sensor seizes in the stock header not the OBX.

obx is stainless and it does not seize up in that one.

A cutting torch is not needed, pick up a propane torch, it is a small area that needs to be heated.

Well worth the bit for that compared to having to replace the sensor.

So which one?

OBX, or Racing Beat?

I'm getting this week but don't know which one to get? If i get 0-2hp im fine with that. I dont want any cell lights or anything showing up though. Im going to also get the COBB and have it tuned in my map by MM.

So what should i do? Which one?

I'd recommend RB. You should also pick a little more than 2hp from it as well. Also no cel lights.

all I say is, their both perfect fits, track tested...and both mandrel bent ss piping...despite what everyone thinks they know...its going to be less restriction than your factory header...your going to see gains, period...weather its at low or high rpms...response is going to be better all around...

Just go with a cheap header...its not going to make a noticable differnce apposed to other brands...

get a OBX unit and have it modified by a vvelder if you got time or even into that sort of stuff.

shouldn't hurt to custom it and alter it to your taste until you are satisfied, provided you kno vvhat you're doing.

RB unit is good too... and even better customer service! have never been disappointed using their products to date.

This is a question that is for anyone that xurrently has the OBX headers installed. I have had them for about two months and I'm getting a CEL for P0410 which is secondary air injection system malfunction. Now the pump is cutting on correctly and everything but the AIR pipe goes into the OBX headers and I'm wondering if it's not getting in there like it should. My question is to know if anyone that has the headers is also getting this check engine light at all. Let me know

eassy fix! unhook ur pump plug on the top left in the engine bay! measure the air pump resistance, and go to ur nearest electronic store and buy the appropriate resistance and hook it to the plug! that way when ur pump wants to go on , ur ecu think that it will!

wow that sounds easy enough i hope it works. but the pump is coming on and i think the air isnt getting in the exhaust and there for the O2 sensor reads that it isnt in the exhaust and sends that error to the ECU which in turn clicks on the CEL. do you think by doing what you said it will still correct the issue?
