I never had any problem with it and I did not wrap it.

I ran it with both stock cat and midpipe. No issues at all.

there is a you tube video we took of Marietta 8's car on the dyno with them glowing red hot.I would not want that type of heat around.
Glad you havent had any probs with yours.

Yes I have seen that but remember that is on a dyno that has little air running over the header to cool it. In real life there is going to be air flowing over it if it is being pushed that much.

He also has a stock cat so it holds the heat more than a midpipe does. I noticed a difference in underhood temps when running the stock cat (it was hotter).

The oil metering harness is further away with the OBX than the stock header. That is something I was concerned about after seeing Charlie's video. I periodically checked the harness and found that it did not affect it.

Ok this might be a redundant question, but does anyone know how the EGR valve hook up the to the OBX headers?

To many pages to read to find it clearly.

so... does anyone know where i can actually purchase an obx header? i checked ebay.

right now my car is stock and in good condition with a new reman (a GOOD one). i have access to a dyno that's cheap, and i would be happy to test out all of these things. i could start with a baseline, add a header, add a midpipe, and then add a catback.

i think this is the first time in the history of car tuning that an OBX product has not been available for immediate purchase SOMEWHERE.

when i don't want one... they're all over the place. and when i finally do? nowhere to be found.

when i used to have a prelude, people practically gave those things away with other parts like some sort of large, metallic cereal box prize.

hah k so i finally got done reading this whole thread to this day, and i got some questions, mayb u guys can help me out.

k so i have a sp2 and i want to get obx headers and a k&n intake, but idk if i should get a high flow cat or a midpipe cause i love the deep sound and i have heard that midpipe changes that sound completly and makes it more like a high sound. is that true?

also in the beiginning of this thread i was reading that ecu's help along with the other after market parts like exhaust and ect..

but my question is what is the difference between piggybacks such as canzoomer and greddy emanage compared to a performance chip or a cobb access port

having the o2 in a single runner is a bad idea on a high performance N/A application. the o2 sensor works off heat changing voltage. it then sends the signal to the ecu. the ecu then corrects the air-fuel ratio to the optimum afr. i would think there would be less heat in a single runner v.s in a collector like the racingbeat design. this would change the tune of the engine, possibly for the worse.
another bad design in the obx header is the collector, if dosnt merge like the racingbeat header its simply 3 pipes that are pinched down and welded to a circle flange= shitty flow
look at the racingbeat header and you will see a smooth merge style collector, wich will flow the best.

remember in a n/a application you need a well engineered part, not just some stainless pipes that are called a header.. if you want good power gains pony up and get a racingbeat header. the most h/p money can buy in a production style rx8 header!

As this statement demonstrates that you have no idea what you are talking about, I ignored the rest of your post.

another option is the Fluid Motorsports header.. which I have it on good authority (and dyno) produced enough ponies to count on 2 hands, not 1.

the only heat related element that is needed for the 02 sensor is to reach about 600 degress F to give a reading to the PCM before that the PCM is in open loop and dumping fuel becasue if has "no clue" what type of AFR it's producing....

Why wouldn't it make more than RB? Prove your case before calling someone out.
