15whp is not .6 seconds. Mazdamaniac will be the first to come in and tell you that as well. A light weight flywheel and lightweight rims will probably yield better results.

oh, yeah I don't know about drag racing. I thought you were saying the +15hp wasn't even close.

That sucks, i thought 15hp would do more than that.

yea man, it's disappointing. Drag racing is stupid anyways, and buying this car to drag race it is even more stupid IMO

Add another 10 hp claimed for the Mazsport Ignition solution.
220HP has been proven through dyno with essentially "Bolt ons" and a flash. That's still not more then half a second. Nitrous, no cat, AP, panel filter and ignition and you probably have a winner.... for roughly $3-4k installed.

if a tire is warmed up, you get more grip than if its cold.

thats why drag racers do a little burn out before they run.

PoLaK posted a time slip a while back running 14.5 completely stock. It's in the Racing subforum. So of course it's possible.

Not to mention some have clipped the high 13's N/A with some well-through mods, like a lightweight fly, new clutch, modified intake, exhaust, and midpipe.

i really dont like how people hate on drag racing...how is getting from turn 9 to turn 10 any different than a drag race...

I'm sure as many of u who track their cars that beating someone in the turns is nice and all...but most of the times its the power out of the corner and down that straight that gets faster lap times....
so what ur gonna rag on track days too??

That's because most just assume all drag racers are rednecks or ricers. Years ago, I met Doug Mangrum (Mustang drag racer) and he was intelligent, smart, etc. Mangrum was one of the first to take a Mustang with Windsor block deep into the sevens.

Most on here dislike NASCAR for the same reason....easy to hate on them because they are popular and people just associate them with dumb ol' rednecks from the South.

There is a lot more skill involved in manuevering through a turn and their are a lot of complex weight transfers going on that the driver has to be able to handle, braking and accelerating both most be done at the correct rate and time in order to not upset the chassis and break traction.

I still want to get these LightGrip tires...

220rwhp puts us at the same rwhp/weight ratio as a 350z or Mustang GT... if you can't crack into the 13's - then its not the car

I would like to point out that it is the speed out of the turn, not the power out of the turn that is the great winner. The speed out of the turn has little to do with the power and everything to do with the driver.

This is the reason why i find track racing more demanding than drag racing. As an example: Give me a 13 second car and a pro drag racer a 16 second car and I will win the race. I will probably land on 15 seconds but it will still beat the 16 second car since it cannot go faster.

Take the same two cars and place them on a racetrack. Me in the 13 second car and an F1 driver in the 16 second car. I would be lucky if I can keep up for one lap. The difference being that the driver skill is much more obvious on a track than in a straight line. There is also much more room to improve on a track because the millions of lines you can take with various theories behind them to drive fast depending on the situation. In a drag race it is once more just a straight line.

Your doing something wrong if you require a clutch dump to come out of turn 9(your not standing still)
