You guys missed a great tuner session at my place yesterday. Olddragger installed a second radiator in Matt's car with a fan controller that kicks in around 181º. I helped Dennis install new front rotors, pads, speed bleeders and flush the fluid. Then we installed the RR clutch support bracket. We grilled and had lots of fun. You guys should join us sometime.

A few shots from yesterday's cruise around North GA

 

Looks like a fun trip. What time of day did you get up there and how was the traffic? What route did you take?

 

We gathered in Alpharetta around 11 AM, and from there headed up to Dahlonega, changed plans a bit to work with our time schedule so we landed up having lunch at the Chickfila, ran over to the Walmart, gathered a few others, and we continued on highway 9 and then went north on 129, then 180 over to brasstown bald, hiked the trail in the clouds which dispersed at just the right time. So after that we were going to go up and around to Hiawassee but for the lack of time and lack of fuel present in a few tanks we decided to continue on 180 and down the little stretch of 75 into Helen where we had dinner.

We chopped the whole route practically in half with that decision but I think it was the right choice; we made it into helen around 5, walked around for a bit as a group and found a place to eat. Some of our more southern friends down in Peachtree city didn't make it home until dark but the majority of us got back with plenty of light to spare so it was overall a nice day.


The next "big meet" which hopefully I can shove in before the end of the year will be fun... and by that I mean a lot of fun.

Everyone already figured it out on the facebook page; but essentially it will be a scavenger hunt type!

If by baby dragon you mean the south end of 129, yup! The road up to blood mountain from Turner's corner.

Great run.. it's a load of fun every time, and the shear amount of camber in the turns is spectacular.. The dragon alone can't give you that.

We will certainly be going back and finding a few new paths to take.

There are tons of great roads in that area. From 129 try Richard Russel over to Helen and then across 17/75 up to Hiawassee. Then over to 197 and then back down to Helen.

 

I for sure will be going to .. what us "Epicmeet" people call Dragon Camp which is the same weekend as DGRR, a bunch of us with 3s go up there; I missed out last year since I was busy working on my car and saving money lol but I for certain will be there.

Unsure if I'll be able to get some other locals to go up though... tough crowd sometimes to get them to drive for just short of 3 hours

 

I love AMOC! All Georgia RX-8 owners should join us. GARX-8 people are definitely welcome to everything affiliated with AMOC, which covers the gamut of Mazda owners.

Hey GA Rx-8,

I just got an 07 rx-8,I have been on the forums looking around and researching this car a long time. This past week, I got this 8 for my birthday and I've been meaning to post on here for awhile but I had to get my college finals out of the way. Anyway,I look forward to spending some time on here and I'll have pictures of my car up soon. Also,I registered at the GA site under the same name.
