loved the intro song!
LoL, I never checked the web for it. Years ago I made an exhaust for my freinds car, and when people would ask him where he got it he told them it was a Simmons-Racing pipe and the name just stuck ever since.

What battery did you go with. I am thinking about changing mine, more because the wife always gets a flat battery to have a spare then to lose weight but if your changing something then make it better.

I went with the Odessey pc680. It wasn't as light as I usually use, but I wanted something strong enough to start it in the summer.

for anyone else who didn't RTFM the Odyssey dry cell battery is only rated for max temps of 113 degF without a metal jacket and 176 degF with a metal jacket, which makes it unsuitable for the engine bay in general and over the radiator discharge fan location in particular. The required alternator and charger output specs are a bit more stringent than most people are aware of too.

Have a melted one to back it up. All it took was one trip to AC. Thought it might've been a bad cell but seems it was due to under hood temps.

Right on target, especially around the charging.

Mark, what are you running these days? The PC680 in my CM car is past its prime (after only 10 months, according to receipt) and I'm looking...what do you know about the Shorai packs?

I get two seasons out of my PC680s (mounted in the engine bay) but living in OR keeps the uderhood temps from getting too bad, I suspect.

The one they sell now is a bit less capacity and price (was 56 A/h and $2k msrp vs 50/$1.8k now), but I got a special deal on someone elses cancelled order and didn't pay that much

After all the aggravation I had previously with the Braille and Odyssey batteries I would say it was worth every penny regardless. It is without a doubt the best racing battery I have ever owned

Otherwise no, you don't really spend that much on your car

I couldnt get a braille 2015 to last more then 6 months until I started using a smart charger whenever the car is parked for more then 24 hours.

I get in and crank the key concern-free. It does have an auto shutdown feature if the voltage drops below 12.5 volts. So there is always cranking power even if you left the headlights on etc.

So you are saying that you have a $30,000 STX Rx8

I am going to try the Toyo's on my car next, I used to run them on my ST civic and my STR Miata and liked them. We will see how they are on the heavy Rx8.

STX was always intended as a stepping stone for where the car will eventually end up, considering that I paid $25k new for it back in 2005 its safe to say that your number is a bit off

Don't forget the long tube header ...
