Summit Point - Shanendoah Circuit - 5/14

I present sessions 2,3, and 4 of the green group:

Session 2

Session 3

Session 4

Footage was taken with my GoPro. My instructor was awesome, he tracks an FB...and he does it very very well.

Session 1 was in the rain and I don't think my driving was post worthy.

Session 2 was on a damp track. I started to get the line a little bit better.

Session 3 I had my line pretty much down. Gdawg522 and I were going at it for a bit there. I gave him a point by so he could enjoy the open track in front of me. I captured some sweet flames shooting...and my instructor and I yelling when they shot.

Session 4 Awesome. I had to bully a 135i, 335i, 370Z, and a few other cars in order to really rip through the track.

tl;dr - If you are able to do a HPDE at Shenandoah...DO IT! Its a very technical course and you will see how our RX-8's can really drive .

Shanendoah is One of my favorite courses. Calabogie Raceway in Canada was another one of my favs.

That's really cool man. I've always wanted to take my 8 to a track, but just haven't yet. I'll have to get out and do it one day.

This circuit (and the Jefferson) are really the only things I seriously miss about having moved out west.
I've actually contemplated trailering the car back there for a weekend just to run Summit again.

I miss the seafood, too. But that is another story...

Well **** jeff let me know if you want to come up to some track events. I'd love to see what a turbo'd 8 can do on the track.

I want to do some tracks in FL next year. NASA's region in FL seems to be pretty active. But I haven't researched it enough.

I must say that the changes in elevation make the track a freaking blast to drive on.

For one day, it was just $225. Not to bad at all.

Wow. It's gotten expensive over here. That is typically the cost for two days around here.
Even Laguna Seca was only ~$130 a day.

You like the Jefferson? I knew you were OK. It's rare to find somebody who a) knows what the Jefferson is and b) likes it. I did my first track day more than a dozen years ago on that track. Learned there that early apexing is "wrong" but fast. I still love it, but rarely get to drive it anymore. Few clubs run on it and BSR doesn't run any FATTs on it. I think only NASA does TTs on it anymore.

Funny, I was sitting in Gdawg's right seat and the way I remember it is he was all over your tail like flies on poop. If you didn't give him the point I was going to tell him to take you anyway.

Took me a little while to figure out why you only shot fireballs out one side, then I realized you have a Hi-Power exhaust. My car's still louder.

I know I had fun despite the rain: If I'm doing the math right, I used 25 gallons of gas in 165 miles. That's right, campers; 6.6 MPG W00t!

I used roughly 10gal on 90mi of track time. Then i got ~22mpg cruising at 75mph back home; ~10gal used and 220mi of all highway driving.

To be honest I wasn't checking my mirrors I was happy as **** that I finally found my way trough the traffic. I did glance back a few times but only when I was approaching the passing zones.
