Power Issue ?

Well I was wondering if the fuel tank load affects the performance. Is this true?
I mean that an RX-8 with a full tank will perform worst than an RX-8 with an almost empty tank? Or you think that the weight of the fuel is not so critical because an RX-8 it can take up to 61 lt which is not so great in terms of extra weight?

Power!!
Also not having any gas definitely affects your performance.
But seriously as Brettus pointed out weight is weight right. A pound of gas or a pound of metal or a pound of fat friend in the seat next to you is one more pound you have to accelerate.
track guys have found that you can run in to fuel starvation issues if you run below a quarter tank and take a heavy left? hand turn due to the saddle bag shape of the fuel tank.

Just updating the topic.
Well I have not done any checks concerning compression, plugs and coils etc but I have race against couple of similar RX-8 with mine. The results are very strange and I guess that have to do either with the quality of fuel or the speed that I change gears.
Specifically,
Making several runs with at least 3 other similar RX-8 the results were the following:
We were always starting with 2nd gear rolling
-2nd gear the cars were exactly the same
-3rd gear I was pulling about half a car ahead
-4th gear my opponent covered the half car ,that he lost previously, and came next to me.
It seems that the above scenario was repeated with all the 3 RX-8 I have raced
So what do you think is the issue? I can not change 4th gear as fast as my opponents or in 4th gear my car has an issue. And if that was the case how is it possible my car to run perfectly in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear or even better than the others and in the 4th gear to lose slightly by the others?
My opponents were running with 100 gas and I was running with 95 gas. But I guess that the better gas above 95 RON does not make any difference

well i have an appointment with mazda wed. to replace the burnt coils i just found in my car... luckily still under warranty (45K). I will let you know the power difference because im sure there is one and i will be able to tell. My car with intake, midpipe, exhaust, pulleys, reflash, and short throw shouldnt be slower than a stock rx8...

well here I am again with issue solved !
-well checked my compression and looks ok but I need your opinion also
-checked my cat (optic check) and it was ok
-checked my sparks that were not so good. So I changed sparks and the car feels a lot better. Made my first drag race and the results were also ok. I was not behind the similar powered RX-8 I was a little ahead due to better/faster gear changes. I will soon post images from my spark plugs
So I need your opinion about my compression numbers
Cranking Speed 274rpm both rotors
-----------------Rotor 1-----------------Rotor 2
chamber 1---794kpa --------------815kpa
chamber 2---813kpa ---------------825kpa
chamber 3---825kpa ---------------792kpa

Compression
I'm glad to hear the spark plugs solved your problem. I'll do some research on compression, and check mine as well. I feel I need a tune up myself. I purched my '04 8 used. I called the Mazda dealer for info on the new Renesis engine and asked why they quit producing the RX for several years. They didn't really give me an answer, but said the engine was reengineered, as to the apex seal springs and the apex seals themselves. He did tell me they replaced many RX-8 engines, mostly automatics. He asked me for my VIN and said the car was tuned up at 32k and 43k. I an now at 55k and in the five monthes I've ben driving the car I can tell it isn't as fast as it was 5k miles ago.
