i've been a member of this forum for well over a year now and i've always wondered why i can't post anything. It's ironic how much i lol when people reply to issues with "have you tried searching for it?" and each time i think "well duh!" and yet when i couldn't post i never really thought to search for the answer.

so consider this my initiation thread. I'll use it as an opportunity to share all of those 8 moments i've gone through since buying my '04 in December of 2013.

first off, this will be the sixth rotary engine i've owned, i've been a huge fan of the FB for a long time but was forced to sell my beautiful '83 when the engine tanked on the highway in tennessee.

but i believe this 8 is my shot at righting that wrong... and believe me, i've fought hard to keep this car in the past year and a half... so here goes.

two months after i got it i had an incident, an oil cooler line ruptured on my way home from work one night... the way it happened really burned me because i'm usually very careful, but it went undetected until i noticed the pressure guage had bottomed out over a mile down the road.

naturally i pulled over and got it towed home to fix, but the damage had already been done. the eccentric shaft bearing in the rear housing had shredded and it tore the shaft up something vicious. having given up on my 83, i decided to go all in and take on a rebuild. i was not about to lose another. i even sold another car to do it! (a busted up nissan altima paid for the rebuild)

fortunately atkins rotary was a reasonable drive away and the folks there inspected the dismantled renesis, pressed in new bearings, and outfitted me with everything i would need for the rebuilt. bring on the pics!














i'm pleased to say the operation was a success, and although the car still has several quirks to it: (replaced the clogged cat with a dual presilenced rb pipe, fixed the notorious power steering issue, had to replace a busted clutch pedal, and of course the fuel pump is crapping out on me) this now not-so-brilliant black beauty is on the road again.

and after careful inspection i had realized she bears your mark:



so if any of you folks from the pacific northwest remember her, give me a shout! i'd be happy to drive out to show ya that she's still got plenty of fight left in her.

got this bad boy on there just the other week... between this and the new fuel pump i'm please to say my 8's rebuild has just passed the 1.5 year mark! thing goes like a bat outta hell.
