I got the same extended warranty letter yesterday. I'm glad they are doing this but it just means I will have to wait another year before I go FI...

Got the letter as well. Doesn't do me any good considering the modifications on the car just void it anyway. Maybe they could just send us $$ instead.

I also recieved the letter yesterday with the extended warranty. Also glad to see that because I have no mods yet so I'm alright for now.

Ditto,

When I saw the envelope, I was hoping it was the recall letter, as I want to get several small things fixed and will do it when I take it in for the vacume test, alas, it was the extended warrenty letter. Pretty nice overall, it will help if I decide to sell it in a year or so as I have a very low mileage car.

I received the POWERTRAIN warranty extension (Power Trane - is that for a home A/C unit?)

I have serious doubts regarding the management at Mazda. The 'Warranty' is for a generic Mazda powertrain:

Engine
Cylinder Block, Cylinder head...
Timing Chain/belt
Valve Cover and gaskets
Turbocharger housing and all internal parts
Supercharger Housing and all internal parts

It also lists the Transaxle and manual/automatic hub (4x4)

It would have been much better (and preferred) to have a SPECIFIC waranty for the Renesis and the RX-8 in particular.

It would have been really nice for Mazda to extend it for 1 yr and at LEAST 12,000 miles. (15k miles in the real world)

Perhaps Mazda is NOT sure how many miles the average American drives or even WHAT drivetrain the RX-8 has in it - lol

I dont know if I should ask this question here: the warranty started from the date it purchase or the manufactory date or whatever it is?

The coverage starts from the date of sale.

I haven't recieved any letters yet. You guys think its because i only bought the car like 3 weeks ago and mazda doesnt have my info yet?

Same here, bought the car about 3 weeks ago and after reading all of this went out and looked at the build date, Feb 06, so it should come under the recall. Indiana here, so I called the dealer and they will not have all of the things they need for a week or so and no letters yet. After reading about all of the high temp, low humidity problems, I figured we will be later in the rollout. This is really pretty big for the dealers if they have to swap some of the engines (probably not mine) and taking care of all of the dealers takes some time to get going so rolling out in waves makes sense for the company. If they tried all of the dealers at once it would probably be a cluster f.

i was afraid people were beginning to get organized here and started searching to post in one thread. seriously, no one actually searches, huh? here are just 4 threads that appear on page ONE of the rx8 discussion.
