Questions about the warranty extension

If you bought an extended warranty through the dealer, and paid a nice chunk of money for it, would you be eligible for a refund with this new warranty extension?

No, most likely your extended warranty covers more than just the powertrain and for longer than the "extended powertrain warranty" from Mazda. Plus, it may not even be a Mazda extended warranty. Anyway, they are completely separate.

hey you and me both! I wondered that exact same question too. Since the extended warranty went from covering 50K to 40K and, i'd have imagined that the extended warranty would have been cheaper now. If you find anything out about it, let me know.

I have a 7 year, 70,000 mile warranty, and basically, I paid like $2,500 for it to extend beyond an extra 3 years. AND it only covers what the normal Mazda warranty covers. And now I am kinda pissed because now they give us the 5 year 60k warranty, which if it would have came with that standard I really probably wouldn't have gotten the extended warranty. Now if I cancel the extended warranty is my car still covered under the standard Mazda warranty? I probably should ask my dealer, but I am pretty sure they are going to try and bullshit me into keeping the extended.

first of all, no matter what they say, they can't make you keep it. And secondly, they won't give you too much crap, as their commission is then already established...and as far as i know, if you sell it back, it doesnt affect them anyway.

Also, are you sure that you don't have the 7 year, 100K warranty? This was the warranty that I bought directly from Mazda, and it is a Mazda sanctioned warranty. It cost me $2200. This is also why I'm concerned too. That's a good chunk of change for only 2 more years of warranty, at which I think $1100 a year it kinda heavy.

To be honest though, I suspect that we won't get anything back...but I'm happy to hear that i'm not the only one that wondered the same.

My question would be, i had to pay for my tranny to get fixed out my pocket and pay mazda 2300 in parkin fees. it says they would give me money back if i provide the reciepts. so would i have a chance of gettin my 4300 back? or would they blame it on voided warranty?

i have no idea what your talking about.

whatever it is, it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with an extended warranty.

You all seemed to have paid a lot for your extended warranties! I paid $1400 for 7 year/100,000 mile warranty.

have you checked your deductable on it though? That's where the MAJOR money lies. My 7 yr/100 mile came with a $100 deductable. If I were to get one with no deductibale, it would have jumped $700 to $2900.

On the reverse side, they told me that a $500 deductable warranty would have only been $900.

Those are the little things they usually don't mention...until you go to use it.

No deductibles for anything except $100 on the engine specifically.

You can almost always cancel extended warranties. I still had $20k left of extended warranty on my previous car, so I canceled it right before I traded it in to get my 8. I only got like $200 back, but thats better than nothing.
