the rx8 does 14.5
350z does 13.5

you think the 370z can do 12.5 stock?

i doubt it. i think it'll be lower 13s.

13.5? Fastest time Ive heard for a Z was 13.7; not that it matters really.

12.5 is C6 times, the 370Z will NOT outrun a C6.

I think they are going to have to make a tough choice, either go through with the 16x Rx-8 style car or a "new" FD, seeing the success that the Rx-8 has enjoyed I think it will be a new Rx-8 which is kinda sad. I love our 8 but wouldn't trade my FD for anything in the world (not literally).
So true

i've seen a 350z do 13.2, of course it wasnt stock. had the normal bolt ons and drag slicks. but yeah. i really REALLY doubt the 370z will do 12s stock.

Do you mean 350Z? 13.2 is believable stock with the 370

I seen the new skyline run 12 flat then 12.2 then 12.5 at the track out here and that was spinning 1st, 2nd & 3rd

To be fair the Veyron has 1001hp and only does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.

That is a 420% increase in horsepower with only a 207% increase in 0-60 time.

Of course you could also talk about the 5586% increase in MSRP.

I still can't envision you doing a good 'walk away' from a 370 here.

even a turbo 8 will get wrecked by a 370z.

as long as the turbo is the stock greddy kit.

if its any other kit, mazsport, greddy+mm, esmeril, it woudlnt be that hard.

greddy+mm is at 300-310whp. thats just a bit more whp than the 370z is probably putting, but we're lighter, so we'll walk away. slowly.
mazsport kits were at 350whp. since the rx8 is also 200lbs lighter, we're going to walk away pretty fast.
the esmeril kit is down at 414whp. even if you get just 375, we're going to be jogging, if not running, away.

I completely agree.

Brettus, I bet you'll be getting a wake up call if you run into one.

Youre car might trap 104-106 mph with 307rwhp, correct? The 370Z is right there with you.

brettus is 200lbs lighter than a 370z.

if a 370z has 330hp, thats ~280whp.

he has +30whp, -200lbs.

he SHOULD win...

going against him is the fact that the 370z (like the 350z) is better suited for drag racing than the rx8. imo.

I think 330 rwhp RX8 is probably going to land you about 109-110mph. I've raced gobs of 110-111mph cars, and my car traps 107mph N/A. They get a few lengths, but it's not massive. 300-310rwhp is probably a knock down drag out fight with the 370Z that traps 106mph.

And please... I'm not internet racing. RWHP and curbweight is okay, but trap speed is more accurate measurement of how two cars will fair against each other. Watch what happens when you start seeing them at the track.

kersh4w, buddy, your calcs are correct for two similar engine types, but you can't take peak horsepower and curbweight on these two cars and expect to get a good comparison. Seriously.

The turbo rotary just doesn't make apples to apples power compared to a higher displacement N/A motor. It just doesn't. You have factor in about 30 rwhp difference that the rotary has to come up with...

If more folks drag raced their turbo RX8's, we would have all the data we would need to prove this, but there's very very little data out there.

well... forget about drag racing for a second... if you happen to run into a 370Z on a 3 mile stretch of closed airport runway and go from a 45 roll, I think the Z will still win. Hypothetically.

Were comparing an NA 370Z to a Boosted RX8.

Why dont we talk about a boosted 370Z vs Boosted Rx8.

Thatll squash all hopes that our cars are faster haha.

Guys, the 370Z is faster. Its newer and redesigned with a bigger engine than the 350z. It is what it is.

i think this image is pretty standard for a greddy kit @ 7psi.

compared to a dyno with a stock g37 (same engine). also note: they already have a twin turbo set up making a ridiculous amount of power for the vq37. also note: the 370z stock makes more power than the g37. so the distance will only stretch.

Pfft, my 8 could take the new 370Z easy, and I'm stock.

All I have to do is get out and slash his tires before take off!

Bah.... them domestics was pushing big pushrod engines with loads of hp in their otherwise mediocre products. Look what it got them. GTO gone, Impala SS gone, Firebird gone, SRT4 gone.... same old same old.
The 370z is certainly a step up from the Z. Now it can compete with the 8 in terms of handling finesse. But to put it in the Cayman/Z4 M stratosphere.... I doubt it. Just because an Altima can outrun a 3-series ar A4, does not automatically means it is in the same league.
