Don't forget the electronic rev-matching system in the new 370z. The playstation era has definately begun. Between the GT-R and 370Z, there is really no need anymore for skilled drivers to ever buy a Nissan. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of teens writing off 370Z's come summer (and not to mention potentially dieing) due to a lack of respect for the amount of power they have under their foot and their dependance on electronic aids.

As for being a better car than the RX8...ya its faster, but thats about it. The RX8 doesn't sound like a coffee grinder, and the fit/finish of the interior is respectable even by the highest standards.

 

A new FD makes no sense. A new RX-7 maybe... but the FD was a single generation/design of the RX-7. Even if they went for a retro look and patterned it after the FD, I wouldnt call it a new FD.

A 2 seat rotary powered car doesnt seem unrealistic though.

Love it or hate it, at least Nissan continues to significantly enhance their sports cars. Both the GTR and Z series continue to improve at each evolution. In this case the Z's power is up, the handling is better, and 0-100 in approx 5 secs is awesome for its price. Has the Rx8 improved each generation?? Some would argue it's gone backwards.

 

I wouldnt say the 8 has seen a new generation yet. It's seen different series if you go by how they changed the different rx-7's. The FC is considered the 2nd generation of rx-7 but it consists of both series 4 and series 5. There were only minor differences in the series, but major differences in body style, engine, tranny etc for the different generations. If mazda does another 4 door coupe with the 16x but with a brand new body shape, then it would be a new generation. The only complaint I can give right now is the fact that it's taking mazda longer to get to the next generation. Unfortunately, mazda doesnt have the resources nissan does so it will take longer, especially with an economy like we have.

The Z is a better car than ours in all aspects of performance, and arguing the RX8 is better because the Z is ugly is not a valid arguement.

I would take my 8 over a 370 any day and I personally do not like it.

But the facts are facts and the truth is that the 370 kicks the RX8s *** in all aspects as far as performance goes.

Accept that and move forward.





Besides, the 350Z is our competitor, not the 370.

350Z vs RX8 debate makes more sense.

The automotive game is like chess, Nissan has made their move, now lets see what Mazda does in reponse.

 

350Z and RX8 are not even in the same category.
To even try to compare them is a true compliment to the RX8

According to my insurance company, I drive a 4 door 1.3l sedan.



So I drive a 4-door sedan that gets compared to sports cars?

350Z and the RX8 are in the SAME CLASS


370Z and RX8 are NOT IN THE SAME CLASS

The RX8 was a great competitor to the 350Z in everything except power, and the RX8 wasnt terribly slower than the 06 and older 350Z.

The 370Z is, however, out of reach even for the R3 IMHO.

 

I still don't see how the 350Z and RX8 are in the same class.

One is a sports car.
The other a 4 door saloon.

 

2 extra doors to hinder the fact that the rx8 is a sport coupe. The rx8 is closer to a 350z class that say, a bmw 3 series. Simply put.

The rx8, 350z, TT, S2000, G35, etc are all sport coupes.

So yes, they are in the same class.

I really stopped letting the whole 'rx8s are slow' thing stop bothering.

An observation over the last 3 years of ownership is that the people who talk the most **** are the ones who cant afford it.

Its funny how I get more respect from a Z owner than a riced out civic owner.

the Z 'is' a lot faster than the rx8, one second is a humongous deal...with this logic a 1000hp bugatti should be getting to 60 a second before you put your foot to the pedal...think objectively people.

350Z - 5.5 seconds

370Z - 4.8 seconds

RX8 (with god driving) 5.9 (Normal Driver) 6.8-7.5 seconds

0-60 with a good driver- the RX8 can keep up with a lot of cars and is actually a fast car. Its when you look at 0-100 comparisons that you realize the RX8 is underpowered to cars such as the 350Z.

The car was built for handling and was a much better corner car than the 350Z IMHO but from the looks of it, we dont have that notch over the 370Z anymore.

All we have over the 370Z is 4 seats, unfortunately.

My 8 is paid for. Most new 370Z owners will be making payments.

but if i wanted a faster car, i would have bought the blue z3 m coupe i was looking at. however, 4 seats were what sold me on the rx8.

(that, and that all my friends have bmws. god.. got to get away from the fatherland, ja?)

 

do you realize how much faster 1 second is in the 0-60? sounds about right on to me.. probably a good 2 seconds in the 1/4 which is deffinately alot. the 8 is a great car but to compare it to the z in terms of strait line is retarded in every aspect.
