No because that would bump us into the 60-80K market and Im not sure how a 60K Rx8 would compare to a C6 in terms of sales or handling after the wieght distribution is thrown outta whack by the extra wieght in the front

Look, even if you buy the fastest, baddest sports car money can buy today, in a few years faster cars will come out.

Unless you're Jay Leno, someone will always have a faster car than you. So what? Why care?

LOL, exactly. When I was a kid in the '80s, my dream car was an '84 911 Carrera 4. Now I have a car that...wait...the 911 is still better

If I sell my loved Rx8, it'll be for a 135i 300HP BMW....not a 370Z POC.

Come on man... a stock C4 will still do 14.5 in the quarter. "Wipe it ***" LOL whatever

The Buick Grand National ran high 13's stock. They got their reputation because that short block will take insane amounts of boost. I would be scared if one rolls up on me, and that's just because there ARE NO stock GNX's out on the street. If they were stock, they would be in a garage hidden away.

Back to the Z... it out handles the RX8. Quoting R&T

370Z
.97G's and a 71.4 mph slalom
RX8 R3
.90G's and a 70.8 mph slalom

The RX8 is no longer in the same league as the 370Z, Cayman S, M Coupe

Very true... the 135i is in that same group. I like them too for the value and back seats are included.

I really like the 135i, but it's almost too hard core for a daily driver if you have shitty roads where you live.

By hard core, I mean teeth rattling suspension...

It's also pretty tight inside.

Not on an autocross course... The 370Z will not fair much better than the 350Z did in BS. Crappy rear diff, lack of front camber and a wide body.

This will massacre an RX8 on an autocross course. Nismo 370Z S-Tune!!!
Not sure how they could make the Nismo Z any uglier, but they did.

It didn't take long for the folks at Nismo, Nissan's motorsports arm, to do their thing on the new 370Z. Mere weeks after the car's debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nismo released images of the 370Z S-Tune to the Japanese media. This package is currently available only in Japan, but it's safe to assume it will be coming to the U.S. in the next few months. As with its predecessor, the 350Z S-Tune, the new car won't get engine tweaks. Instead, the changes focus on the car's body and suspension. A new front end, which extends the nose a few millimeters, provides for a sleeker overall appearance, and an aggressive front chin spoiler and sideskirts make the Nismo 370Z immediately distinguishable from the stock Z. There's a flashy rear wing, too. Firmer springs and shocks should improve the car's already excellent handling. Prices have yet to be announced, but with the falling U.S. dollar against the Japanese yen, the S-Tune package probably won't be cheap.

Seeing that your avatar seems to show some sort of Pontiac, you wouldn't know what handling is even if your life depends on it.
What you quoted above is grip. Slap a set of R compounds on a Miata and it will pull Z06 shaming lateral g and slalom speeds that scare the pants of any S2000.

Meh. Quit being ignorant. It's a Holden, not a Pontiac.
Oh, and I've owned 2 RX8's and a Miata so STFU.

[QUOTE=chiketkd;2790614]Not on an autocross course... The 370Z will not fair much better than the 350Z did in BS. Crappy rear diff, lack of front camber and a wide body.

The 370Z pulls .07g's more than a 350Z.

A stock 370Z vs Stock RX8 would

370Z would kill an RX8.

Pick up that issue of Motor Trend where the RX8 made #4 on the list of best handling cars, they rated it due to 'drivers feel, fun, and accuracy".

However, our car had the second slowest lap times.

In other words, we were outhandled but ours is more fun and precise.

I have a good feeling it will be the same case with the 370Z.

And Jay Leno, who could drive only the fastest cars on the planet if he wanted to, spends plenty of time tooling around in his Stanley Steamer, Hudson Hornet and Mazda Cosmos.
What does that tell you?

The Stanley Steamer & Hudson Hornet were the fastest cars of their time. The Hudson Hornet won 3 Nascar championships in the mid 50's. Jay is a Dusenberg expert. Some models of these cars had supercharged engines that made up to 400 hp and were raced at LeMans & on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

I completely understand that.

My point, however, is that a STOCK 370Z vs STOCK RX8 = 370Z win.

I dont like to compare with biased answers. Anyone can add mods to the rx8 or miata or anything to beat another car.

EX.

A Saturn SC2 supercharged with a good tune and sticky tires could beat an S2000.

That statement doesnt mean that alls SC2's > S2000.

Do you understand my point now?

Why are we even talking about this. This guy's only performance metric was 0-60 and he ends the article with "if it was my $30k (or so), I’d be shopping a (gulp) Mustang GT." These two things alone tell you quite a bit about the author, neither of which are flattering IMO.

I love the 8, but that Z seems sick. If Mazda doesnt pick up its game soon, Z and 8 wont be mentioned in the same breath. I love this website, but there is a massive inferiority complex here. I had an 8 now I drive a G. I'm an enthusiast I like all cars. I miss my 8 and I love my G. Just dont forget there are other good choices out there. Keep an open mind, because many of you are just spitting out non-sense.

By the way 0-60 is not the best way of telling how fast a car is, but if you have to compare 60 times. 1 second equates to getting owned. I mean OWNED.

Why all the complaining about Mazda not stepping up their game? The 16x is in the works, you know. They are moving beyond the Renesis, have been working on it for a while. Just wait and we'll see how things look with the new 7 (or whatever they're going to call it).

We're complaining becuase the RX8 is getting its *** kicked by every car in its class. The 16X 'being in the works' does not hinder the fact that the RX8 has not recieved any power increases during its life span and probably will not in the future until the new RX comes out.

The RX8 is done for if mazda doesnt step up, thats why were all complaining.
