Just looked quickly to the responses ...
No one seemed to address this:

The Cobb AP doesn't actually allow you to raise the rev limit.

The Cobb AP only allows you to load a map that will allow the rev limit to be raised.

You need to make your own tune with the raised rev limit and load it to the ECU using the Cobb AP.

The Cobb along does not allow you to raise the rev limit

Shifting using manual mode

How the frick am I supposed to do this??

I've never driven an automatic before I bought my rx8 (on Monday) (& no crap about buying an automatic, I've been through that)

I read the owners manual on it, but it's lame.

I've been driving mostly highway to & from work, but my work has me scheduled at a different location for the next three weeks, and it's only like 7 mins from my house, so no highway.
Speed limit is only 35-40 mph, & what is that on this thing, like 2nd? That is what it'd be on my old car, w/ RPMs being kind of high, would've went to 3rd right about 40ish. Is that alright? I think the rpms would be at like 3000-3500, staying at 35ish in 2nd? I've always had 5 speeds.
I honestly haven't been paying a lot of attention to the shifting thing since I just get right on the highway (not even a quarter mile from my house) & then right off the highway onto a straight 55 mph road right to the parking lot @ work. I would just push hard on the pedal occasionally and let it do it's down shift - then up shift thing & have fun.
Can I just change gears like I would if I were driving a stick?
I really don't pay too much attention to RPMs like it seems you all do, my first car was a stick and didn't even have an RPM gauge. My 2nd one did, but I was not accustomed to actually watching it. I just listened I guess.
So, I guess I will be keeping it 2nd - 3rd @ 3k-4k (is that too low for this car?) rpms for short city driving? (I already know to let the car warm up and blah blah blah before shutting it off)
I just want to make sure I can treat this wannabe stick shift like a real one? I've noticed that if I keep it in automatic mode, it'll be in like 4th at like 30. wtf.
Is that what it is supposed to do? Why? It'll just cruise along w/ super low rpms if I leave it in auto mode. I'll be coming to a stop light and slowing down to like 18 & it's still in 3rd. My mazda3 (old car) would've been pooting along like that.

&..... another question. I guess it really doesn't matter anymore that I have an auto...but, I changed gears often on my protege & mazda3 w/out even using the clutch. I thought it was the coolest and kept doing it until my dad said it was bad for the transmission. But, it never grinded the gears or anything, it just changed gears, like where I would always change gears anyway if I were to use the clutch. But I didn't have to, there were no ugly noises & I did it allllll the time. I know what it sounds and feels like to scratch gears, & it didn't do that.
So why is it bad for your transmission? I've googled it and others also say it is bad, but then some other people say it's fine.
Again, doesn't really matter to me now, but just wondering. & I could have possibly found this by searching, but honestly, the search on this forum is not that great. I would've gotten everything containing "clutch, shift, transmission" and it seems to be in no particular order....
See: (none of these seem to answer my dumb question )

Dumb question...

If i were to buy a car that was turbod/supercharged and tuned for a much lower elevation, would it be bad to drive it 1500+ miles across the U.S into higher elevation?

Of course i would get it tuned for my elevation but would it be engine threatening driving it that far on its current tune??

I think that's an issue with cars with carburetors (man that word has some jacked up spelling.)

On to my dumb question!

I did a few thing to my car over the past week those things are...

-Cleaned the SSV Valve
-Added a SOHN adapter
-Added a Mazsport ignition

Drove around today and the car was feeling good, SSV valve seems to still be an issue I think it's electrical or the impact switch, I failed to test it properly ( left it attache to the solenoid ssv assembly.) Idle was like butter very smooth etc. So I was driving trying to get the PCM to cycle and readjust to the changes to see if it would clear up so I push a little to see if it will stutter or not it bogged down at 7000rpms so I pull over to an Arco thinking it was the tubing or the MAF to the intake(AEM) I adjust the screens everything is good start it up it starts fine then throws a P0171 idles like crap wants stay on but also wants die, if I let it sit for a minute it almost idles normal, so I drove it around a bit more keeping it above 3000rpms or better on the way(it will fight to stay alive but died a few times.) back home. I get home check everything and all is where it should be so I started it up again and this time I hear a ton of rattling from the RP super cat :-/.

I know there are a ton of things that can be wrong with the car I have the DTC Pdf on my cpu. I will check the 02 sensor in the morning my car is lowered and it possibly could be lose, or broken but was driving fine earlier, hoping my engine isn't dead doesn't feel like it though seems like it wants to go but something is holding it back.

Any ideas!?

I'm hoping for MAF, or 02 something easy to replace.

Yes, just like a stick.
Run it hard.

It's not hard on the tranny ... as long as you are not grinding the gears.
That is why we have syncro's in the transmission, well kind of ...

Sorry to general a question, really.
How much elevation?
TC or SC
Draw or blow thru
Factory ECU or Standalone
MAP sensor installed?

In theory a properly tuned turbo'd car with all the right supporting equipment should be able to travel at any altitude found on the roads here on planet Earth.

Sounds like you are doing a good job on self-diagnosing however ... but slow down a bit. Soo much in your post.
Check first to make sure you re-installed everything correctly .. yeah yeah I'm the same way, "sure I installed everything correctly, oh except that and that, ****".

O2 Sensor? You mean the Rear O2 sensor or the Front O2 sensor?
If you've broken the front O2 sensor because of a lowered car you've likely broken a bunch of other stuff as well.

Is there any way to get a painted bumper? I want to get a veilside front bumper to replace my stock (i have a 2005). The bumper itself is pretty cheap (about $300.00), but that is plain right? (i dont know much about body kits, etc.).

My color is titanium gray. Is my best bet to call mazda and order a can of 29-y paint? Or is it better to find a company that will paint it for me?

question #2 - If I put a new bumper on, is that kinda like, it? Or do the sideskirts tend to blend in with the bumper and you need to get the "Whole Body Kit" for it to look good kinda thing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would recommend to get (at the very least) sides with a bumper. Personally I like almost every type of bumper better than the one you chose. A shop can colour match better than any prepainted piece, especially when yours is a '05.

I have a question, Is it frowned upon to use a Battery Isolator Switch to disable to battery for quick fixes (my battery is in the trunk and I just disable it when modding things)???
I haven't noticed anyone else with one and now I'm wondering if there is a reason why.

Truly probably a dumb question...

Is something supposed to be connected here? It's on the backside of the airbox, left side. Doesn't look like there are pins or anything, but still it looks odd just sticking out:

ugh, those aftermarket chrome turn signal bulbs? I bought 2. They do NOT fit properly into the bulb housings. Has any one else used these before?

The wires were actually folded to the wrong side on 1 of the bulbs too. I couldnt believe it.

I tried to push it in as far as i could, and it lit up, but then i put it back in the housing and the bulb fell out into the housing. How the hell do i get that out? Think I can get at it if i take the tire off and then the mudguard? (i just had my tire turned to the opposite side).

yellow/yellow/uncapped yellows along with an upgraded fuel pump should get you enuf fuel for 300 to wheels

The key or gotcha is the uncapped yellows ... it's hit or miss IMO

I'm moving to an uncapped Green/uncapped yellow/uncapped yellow

If you can find them ... try the browns in the Secondary and P2 position

Just installed revi intake.

Do I need Part 1 still? Or do I literally just leave part 2 like that and reassemble the bumper? It just seems like thats asking for dirty air if there is no kind of duct leading down to where the radiator/filter is.

Or do I have to put Part 1 back into part 2?

jamesf, you can leave it out if you'd like. I'd recommend going totally baller and getting the Duct that goes with that intake.
+ spray some anti corrosion oil on the front (rusty spots) before you put the bumper back on.
