Someone posed this question to me, so I will pose it to all of you just out of curiosity. Has anyone ever heard of running an rx8 on propane?

The previous owner only put 5w-20 since car has 59k I am considering 10w-40 conventional, I been thinking long and hard about idemistu 10w-30 full synthetic but I would have to order in advance but I don't mind. Also, I heard it don't need a sohn adapter.
You don't have to, it's not a requirement. It might be a good idea, depending on what you're doing with the car. There are many, many threads about oil choice and premixing, suggest you check them out, not to repeat their content here.

You can't put a sohn adapter on a 2009+.

I will say that Idemitsu is overpriced and there are oils that will do just fine while also being readily available.

Kyle Mohan Racing just recently posted a video of the propane 13B that Mazda made for generator use.

Thank you for your time. Yes of course I am going to do 10w-40 conventional oil with Pennzoil. It came with an K&N intake Typhoon. I am going to do tints. Upgrades.. LS coils, de-cat, exhaust and I want to add gauges. Let me know what should be first.

Relay problem

Right first post here ...
I have a 04 5 speed manual and I have to push on the head relay to get door lights and dash lights everything was working fine and have had no problems prior in the 3 years I've had the car I replaced the relay as it seemed old and there was a crack on the casing ,is it the connection on the bottom of the fuse box where the relay plugs In or is the problem possibly more serious?
Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Anyone ever polish .. .. as in REMOVE THE CASTING FLASH AND IMPERFECTIONS .. .. in the OEM Mazda RX8 brake calipers ??

I would've posted this in a thread, but I'm guessing, since I'm a lurker and a one post ( now 2nd post ) history forum member, I have no permissions to post a new thread.

Anyways .. ..

Brake job upcoming, caliper finish is horrible, and in lieu of powdercoating over the rough cast caliper surface .. I will likely grab a set of Mazda oem calipers and spend some hours smoothing the surfaces seen at the wheel. Then of course, lay down some powder coating. Likely a more subdued color, but definitely not black, silver, nor gun metal.

*No offense intended, but I'm not a fan of bright caliper colors.

**Also not interested in aftermarket calipers.

Just wondering if anyone else, has taken on such an endeavor. Will likely shoot tons of pictures, before & afters, as well as the process from beginning to end. Maybe by the time I cross the finish line, I'll have thread posting privileges. 🙄

***2nd quest --> How many posts to dive into thread creations ?? I did look for rules, as well as somewhat searched for a moderator contact. Saw none, of either. No complaint, just an FNG post count newb.

( Post count #5. )

So Team Rx8 you watch the Dumb Question Post, and the New Member area ?

Okay.

Neither, section of this forum that I posted on, IS the RX8 particular section. 2ndly. The content is SIMILAR, not same.

I'm just a 2 year, one month newb' on this site. Not all other forums. I figured it was a minimum post count. The DUMB QUESTION post was for clarification. See above.

My newb' post was a lot more DETAILED, than my DUMB QUESTION post, here. Hello ?? < tap > < tap > < tap > A lot more detailed.

I received help in the previous post, from a valuable member .. and took the advice accordingly.

Perhaps, read both posts in full, digest properly, and keep your opinion in the umm' .. ... well, no sarcasm allowed, but whatevs'. Reading is fundamental. Maybe read them twice. Post #6 may be ready, then.

If I had 10 posts, without spam posting .. what could be .. ignorant "golly gees" or "wowsers", I'd start my own thread. I'm not a spam poster, a rude person, nor a keyboard banging maniac. It's the internet. A posting board.

.. but to skim my DUMB QUESTION post, and skip over my NEWB' post, and claim "same question" .. .. is akin to saying Pam cooking spray and Idemitsu premix is .. ... well, the "same".

They certainly aren't. How about some olive oil in the tank ?? Hmmmm'.

Not exactly the moniker I'd have chosen. "Team" and all, but better than Mickey Mouse. Nice to meet ya' regardless.

About as helpful as the READING hypothesis.

*No "ignore" feature here, I see. ( Post #6 though )

Good day all. This place has helped me immensely the years I've had this little car. Fun, and unusual ride. Definitely appreciate the insight of the many "stickies" on this site, from every owner inputting their choices. Saved me from making many spurious decisions. Perfect !!

EDIT --> Saw you deleted your post. ( missing post, all ☝ ) Then added this one, below. \/ \/ 🤭 Okay. Take care.

yes, I didn’t want it to be interpreted as sarcastic, which was not my intention.

My post was a politely phrased request without judgement or comment otherwise. Your question was neither dumb nor was there any reason to react as such. It’s a common problem with new members and better to point it out now before it occurs in the open forum area, which happens more often than it should.

Because the 30 day/10 post lockdown in here exists for a reason. After being on here for 16 years now, a possible better alternative might be to try using the time in here to acquire a firm footing learning how the forum operates. As opposed to thinking you’re going to accomplish anything positive for yourself responding that way.

Whether you are here 16 years or not. I posted in this thread. Do you see the title ? Read it slowly. That is its name. Its a great thread.

I posted a brief in this thread. A brief in regards to a polishing project, for my RX8. I then asked a post count question.

If you will notice, I received some sage direction. I then took said sage direction, and posted an entirely more detailed intention. Also with a more inclusive description of my RX8, and what I choose to do with it.

This was the New Member section, that I could post within. Thankful for Loki, once again.

In lieu of maneuvering the edit button, with the mastery of 16 years, or being able to magically dispense the delete button on your posts. Why not just slow down, and read the post contents, the thread titles, as well as the forum sections ? Maybe you missed something ?

Better than all of that. Teach me where the delete button is. So that I too may delete .. .. if I one day, type without thinking myself. Try to one up someone. You know .. because, internet.

I'm 49 years old, "Team". I've learned in life .. that transparency works well in all agendas.. Personal interactions, family, friends, business, puppies, and yes .. .. internet forums.

This is the 1st time in 2 years here, that any of my attentions on this board are completly wasted. I'd rather learn from RX8 enthusiasts, and the mastery of board members helpful with direction. I had all of that, prior to your meeting.

I have not a clue of your expertise of anything, other than edit and delete. Why proof that ?

I didn't come here to edit, and delete. 16 years or not. You can keep all that for yourself. Off topic, but errors are supposed to be learned from by accepting .. .. not defying said mistake by erasure, denial, and defiance.

Never even heard of you, before this edit/delete tutorial. Well done.

.. now back to RX8's and no sarcasm, no flaming, dumb questions. Was on page 19 thanks.

I want to buy a set of 4 quality matching jack stands. I've had two cheapish Pepboys specials for a decade or so. Willing to spend some money for safety and a "buy it for life" mentality. I see lots of options, some with very negative reviews. Anyone do the research before on these and have suggestions?

I have a 2010. I run amsoil 0w40- or amsoil 5w50 in mine. From my experience it’s the best oil your can buy for the crank.
I also run 8oz bottle of amsoil saber 100:1 per tank every fill. Always a good idea to premix. Especially when using a good premix oil.

might just depend on how much weight capacity you need, but maybe 12+ years ago I bought a set of these 3 ton aluminum stands and I greatly appreciate the lighter weight and corrosion resistance since I haul them around and use them outdoors. So spending the extra $$ was well worth it looking back on the purchase now:

Keep in mind that jack stands are rated per pair, so 3 ton jack stands would be 1.5 tons each. Four jack stands would hold 3 tons per end or 6 tons per vehicle. RX-8s weigh around 3,100 lbs so 2 ton jack stands would be more than sufficient.

I'm seriously considering these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...ref_=pd_gw_unk.

For about $220 for a set of 4 I think they are reasonable in price, if not totaling overkill for the weight capacity. Safety is number one though, and I like the pin design and the broad base legs. They have good reviews also, and claim that the capacity is per stand, not pair. Anyone have them or use something similar? I'm not big on the ratchet type design since the HF fiasco.

Cant comment on that pair specifically, but I personally have a set of these from Northern Tool. Best of both worlds - ratcheting but also has a pin for locking. A set of 4 comes in much cheaper than the ones you're looking at. Only drawback is it appears to be backordered, and you can expect a good $15+ for shipping most likely.

How come? To me the wide base and the pin make for a safer stand, I also like the wide flat top. Yes, they are a bit pricier than most but also handle more weight than most. What am I missing? Being genuine, besides price I dont see many drawbacks.
