you can add another one to that georgia engine replacement list. Yesterday Sutherlin Mazda took mine in for a replacement to be done next week. My car only has 22,500k.

Also, what were the exact symptoms leading up to and at the time of failure?
Thanks.

OD, I didn't forget you, just decided not to include you because of the fi. Just trying to keep it as accurate as possible so there is less reason for dispute. I'm sure there are more that we do not know about also.
RotoRocket, I appreciate and respect your opinion but for those of us that have had it happen, your theory just doesn't satisfy us. Rather than get into further debate in this thread, I will look elsewhere for discussion.

Letter isn't necessary -- you're covered.

Rumor has it you can cancel your existing warrenty and get money back for it. I think I have that EasyCare or something warrenty. Can I cancel this and get some money back if I havent hit the miles yet?

Depending on what warranty level you have you may not want to cancell. Remember this new program is only for engine core. I have the total care which covers bumper to bumper except wear items. In my case I still have many other things covered.

The DVD is an insult to RX-8 owners... they should have a chapter selection for "Rotaries for dummies", and one for people who want to see and hear the REAL reasons for the warranty extension, and explanations for other technical issues with the RX-8. They've already 'incriminated' themselves by offering the extended warranty, why not go into detail about the Renesis and its idiosyncrasies to satisfy the more demanding enthusiasts? Yea right, I am dreaming.
I like how they mention not to use synthetic, only because the long term effects are currently unknown. To me, that was the only useful statement in the whole DVD, even though it is a cop-out in the grand scheme of things.
Anyways, I am thankful for Mazda to provide us the safety blanket of the core engine warranty, but disappointed that they still aren't more forthcoming on the technical aspects of the car and it's inherent peculiarities.

A big +1 to this. Those of you that bought extended warranties have coverage for many other things that this Mazda program will not cover. Your transmission and all its components can get pretty expensive, too.

IDK if the aftermarket warranty would be voided, but that seems like something that should be looked into before buying the warranty +/- adding the aftmkt parts.
The Manufacturer's warranty can only be voided if the aftmkt parts can be shown to have CAUSED the problem w/the car. But this doesn't stop some dealerships from just telling people they're warranty is voided, anyway. Whether it's out of laziness, maliciousness, or the part actually caused the problem is irrelevant - because once they try to void a warranty it becomes a massive headache. Going to other dealerships, talking to lawyers, etc.
In short, especially on this car where the gains for those parts are very small, adding aftermarket components will likely make your life harder and just isn't worth it. It's best to go back to stock b4 going to the dealership, unless you know they are a top-notch service dept. that won't BS you til your head spins.

Well the reason I asked, is I paid 2200.00 for the Total Care program warrenty. Currently I only have 25858 Miles on my car, so theres a ton left on the aftermarket warrenty. I dont trust my dealership at all period. They are the only ones to do the work. Currently if I cancel I was qupted 75% of the purchase price on teh warrenty. That's 1650.00. I'd like that back. I could put that amount to my car. I only have CAI, exhaust and pullies. Soon to be ignition solution. If something goes wrong, I dont trust my dealership or warrenty to cover it. That's why I'm thinking of cancelling. What would you do if you were me? I am skating on the issue of going FI too, as my car is almost paid off.
