This IS awesome. Above all else, it's really good piece of mind for the next few years, I'm approaching the 60K miles mark, and was worried that if the engine lost compression and went kaput, I'd be on my own. Great to know....

I guess they are planning to get good use out of that new rotary rebuilding factory in VA....

I applaud Mazda on this one! I called a dealership and said they haven't seen it in writing yet but at the last meeting they had with Mazda confirmed this news was coming. I don't know if many companies would do this for their customers.

Hehe, extensions extensions. It's not like the general public has nervous feelings about the rotary or anything..! :P

Very respectable move.

If True, this is ONE HELLUVA sign of good faith.

FWIW, your warranty, even if it is powertrain only still has value due to your tranny, rear diff, and "accessory" components of the engine. Additionally, Mazda may acutally mail you outa small check as refund on the "double coverage". I have seen ti before.

not really.. this extension applies to only the rotary core/seals/gaskets.. so strictly the block..

your warranty I'm assuming is bumper-to-bumper.. which covers EVERYTHING on the car.

My 8 is 2004 with 81,000 miles.....................So does this mean my RX8, even though it is currently out of warranty but under 100,000 miles, now has coverage for those parts?

So if an Apex seal fails....it is covered?

Barring a knock on the door from Ed McMahon (holding a big check) this is the best news I have heard all day.

I am not an engine guy........Rotary Engine Core, how often is there a problem with the core? Or the rotary Housing? Or Internal Parts, Internal Seals and Gaskets?

All the horror stories we've heard about engines failing........is it these parts that have failed?
