For what it is worth I got off the phone with a local dealer asking about this extension. I did not give him any numbers of length of extension so not to bias his answer.

He said yes he read about this give him a second. He came back and said 8 years 100,000 miles! I ask if he had this is writing. He said yes. Again take it for what it is worth, but things are sounding good!

I will also say I called two other dealers and one said he could give me an answer on Monday and the other said they haven't heard anything.

Again take this for what it is worth, but the fact that I had one dealer tell me 8/100K is a step in the right direction!

Perhaps others should start calling their local service departments, and see if someone else can get an independent confirmation.

8/100 Confirmed!

OK, I just talked to a local Mazda service dept. and I think we can say this is definite. This is a different service manager than I had previously communicated with. I approached it from a standpoint of I need to rethink my service program since the warranty has been extended again. I've been maintaining my own since I passed 60K. I didn't volunteer any information on the extension as to bias the conversation either. He said that "it only covered leaks". ??? I then said "does it extend to 80K" and he said he wasn't sure but he thought it went beyound that, maybe to 100K". "You should be getting a letter in June."

He knew who I am because he knew I had recently had my engine replaced and said he knew that I had the "latest version"... not sure what that means? I guess he was looking at my records while I was talking to him. I didn't get the engine work done at this location.

I think it safe to say, this is a done deal... 8/100... YEA BABY! Bring it on!

===================

MAZDA, Thank you for doing the right thing.
I do believe you have just injected new life into the RX-8.

one of the reasons for this is that they now feel secure in their ability to provide GOOD Remans in case a need for replacemnt would arise thanks to the new site in Virginia. So lets all thank Sleepyz for his hard work in keeping those remans flowing

remember that for the warrenty its time or distance whichever comes FIRST. so for a 2004 that only has 30-40k miles on it the 8 years will more than likely run out b4 100k.
For instance i bought my 2004 on July 31st 2003. i have 35k miles now. this new extension will run out in 3 years when i will probably have only 50-60k on the odo

Unless Charlize Theron knocks on my door and says she wants me to run off with her, this will be the best news I have heard all day.

Question: I have over 80K mileage and the dealer said MSP16 was only covered up to 80K.
Would MSP16 and issues associated with MSP16 (engine lack of power/pcm reflash) covered under this 100K warranty?

Well, I'm getting a new engine put in my RX-8 right now. The car has 48,000 miles on it.

I thought about premixing with 4oz of Idemitsu and changing over to 5w-30... now I'm rethinking my idea since the warranty has been extended out even further. I don't want to void the warranty? What do you folks think?

Otherwise, this is great news!

I've only got around 2 months left in my warranty (or 11,000kms)

If I could pick up an extra 3 years or 70,000kms, i'll be ALL OVER it lol

if you get a new engine, i'd definitely start using 10w-30 immediately.

also, i'd use teamrx8s break in method. drive the **** out of it from the beginning. oil change at 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, and then drive normally.

Now in and if they do it in Canada,,wonder what the term will be. 100m is 160km here. I can't see it going to 160k...but it'd be nice...reaaaaaly nice!

I wounder if this negates the full engine coverage that was extended earlier?

It is good to hear them finally standing behind this engine issue, puts my mind a little more at rest.
