I was talking to Mazda UK yesterday, and they are not aware of such extended warranty. Looks like this won't happen in Europe. Could the rotor be manufactured differently in Europe and US?

I think it's because Mazda NA have fucked them over with recommending 5W20 oil, they have a guilty conscience.

There are slight differences between the car in each market including some to the motor. However, the two real differences between the UK market and the US market that come straight to mind are 1) The emergency reflash that Mazda was required to make to all RX 8s in order to get them to market in 2003 because the original fuel to air mixture would not pass the then new Federally mandated catalytic coverter protection law. That reflash was quickly modified by Mazda with mixed results, and the mixture ratio (along with oil metering) is something that Mazda has been working on here ever since. I believe that it has been running on those early flashes that caused a lot of the RX8s problems here. 2) Ambient temperatures in many areas of the US often reach over 40 degrees Celcius. The high temperatures that the cars are required to run in, force greater stress on to the mechanicals. For those two reasons alone, I can see why we could recieve an extended warranty when other markets might not.

^ so I suppose the Saudis should get this warranty too then since the mid-east is very hot. How about other Asian countries? I don't believe they do. So is Australia. It is hot there too.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I'm from Canada, and today I received the official letter from Mazda Canada about this warranty extension SSP 77. There is NO DVD like you US guys get

I think the oil recommendation is related to extended warranty, because I haven't heard about it in 5W30 regions. And that's just sad.

Mazda should get its act together. There is a warranty extension and no one knows about it.
I received my notice of warranty extension yesterday...... problem is, I returned my car 2 months ago!!
I'm not implying that the extended warranty would have swayed my decision to keep the car, but it cetainly would have figured into my calculations. For instance, if the lease end value is $20k, the market value is $18k, Mazda throws in a powertrain warranty on a 4 year old car worth maybe $800-$1,200 the decision is not as obvious. Even when I returned my car, the person who completed the paperwork did not inform me that there was an extended warranty offerred on vehicle. I don't think they had a clue.
Ironically, they managed to harass me for 6 months prior to my lease end to have the lease-termination inspection done. That included, 3 letters, a dent sizing card, and a series of phone calls to my home and cellphone to book an appointment, etc...
Maybe Mazda secretly wants people to not know there is extended coverage?

ok so my car has 70k miles and my engine has 17k so when does my warranty run out? When the car hits 100k or the engine?

The way that I understand it is, engine core only to 100K on original engine. If engine is replaced, you get the replacement engine warranty of (I think) 12 mo./12K. Warranty on the rest of the vehicle is the same as when you originally bought it.
