i figure, hey, if u have a blown engine or something, get the free engine, pass on the labor, send it all to mazmart, and since it's a good core, probably will knock the price down alot.

I got my warranty extension letter, addendum card and RX-8 Product DVD today.
It really says something about Mazda's commitment (and the DVD is a nice touch too).

Two weeks ago my 8 started running rough, and then stalling at stops. Stopped on me 5 times today in traffic. My warranty went out in January. I have had this awful sinking feeling all afternoon since my Mazda dealer said my 2004 is not in warranty at 52000 miles and they would not honor the xtended warranty the original owner purchased.
Then I got home and found this thread. Thanks for the renewal of hope!
Now I need to ask the Mazda dealer why they could not inform me of this news?

He may still want to keep the extended warranty since it also covers tranny (also known to suck) and lots of other parts as well. I'm keeping mine.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how we can put this together and have everyone sign it? Maybe we could do it in some kind of dedicated online page that appends names to a letter or something really cool that they could go to and see just how much we REALLY do appreciate what they have done. Suggestions, thoughts and expertise would be much appreciated. I don't think they would ever expect the reverse of a petition!

... maybe this thread will actually do the same thing, do you think Mazda is reading this?

some people dont think you can cancel warranty so that was jus an fyi for him. i canceled mine cuz mine is certified so p-train is covered. you are right in some instances it could be beneficial. all depends on type of warranty he bought. and the perceived benefit. warrantys i liken to flying....better to be on the ground wishing u were flying than to be in air wishing u were on ground...so better to have warranty thinking u spent a few dollars u didnt need to, than to have a broke *** car and pray that u had one.

Don't know why this is a big deal. An n/a rotary will go past 100k easy, anyway.
Huh? Aside from operator error, this covers everything that causes engine failure.

What you need to do is find another dealer. If they screwed you over by not honoring the existing extended warranty, why would you want to take your car there again?

My packet was waiting for me in the mailbox when I got home today- and in addition to all the forms and cards already scanned and posted, I got another copy of the DVD "RX-8 Product Update" that came with the car when I bought it.

I'm also one of those who purchased the 100,000 mile extended warranty when I bought my '07. Thinking about it now, and based on the fact that my 8 is not a DD and I'm only driving it about 4,000 miles a year (only 5,300 as of today and I've had it 15 months), I'll hit the 8-year mark LONG before I hit 100,000 miles- if I ever do.

At the very least, I'm reassured that Mazda has reinforced it's committment to this car for years down the road. I bought mine with the intention of keeping it for a long time, and this makes me feel even more like I made a good decision.

Got my DVD and letter today.

Something interesting... It wants you to keep the receipts of the maintenance... This will be a challenge for me just to keep all the receipts for 8yr/100k

Thanks guys for letting us know this... and Thank you Mazda for the extension

There is a card in a packet that you fill out and send to Mazda to receive the credit.
It also came with a DVD and a change of address form.

Hmmmm--- now I am wondering why Mazda did this. Maybe to deter a "class action"? Dont get me wrong--it was an honorable thing to do--Kudo's to them. BUT I bet they now see there WAS a problem. A real problem.

Yeah, I don't really understand the excitement about this.

Its like having your drug-addicted, cheating girlfriend give you a coupon for condoms.

I always appreciate it when my drug-addicted, cheating girlfriend gives me a coupon for condoms. The savings add up.

It doesn't seem like Mazda believed there was never a problem to me. If that were the case all the engine replacements would not have been covered. Mazda knew there was a problem, did a decent job of taking care of it, and now extended that attempt even further.
