Seriously though a lot of people on here do not give the car the credit it deserves...the RX-8 is a lot quicker than what everyone thinks. No, its not a V8 mustang, turbo, supercharged...blah blah blah....its light, tight, and quick...bottom line.

People think that Usain Bolt is fast. But he took 9.69 seconds to go 100 meters.
The RX-8 can do the 100 meter in quite a bit less than that, from a standing start. From a roll, it's even faster.
"Fast" vs "Slow" is just a matter of what you are comparing it to. In which case, people will always compare that which they love against that which they don't...and is slower, or that which they wish they could have...and is faster.

In my opinion, when most SUV and trucks can keep up with your sports car, it is slow.

i'll say this i consider my car slow and it runs low to mid 13s stock...for <30k you can get a car that can easily do 12s. So whether its 13.7 or 14.1 or 14.3 the rx8 is not never was and never will be a dragster, and lying about getting a 13.7 seems to serve no purpose, oh wow you can almost keep up with a stock Z, congrats? even if you got your renesis up to 400hp its just not gonna be a ten second car.
i freaking love the 8 but turning it into a drag car is supremely idiotic, and a 13.7 is nowhere near fast on the strip no matter how you slice it. and lying about it only really just makes it worse. congrats you lied to a community that used to give you a modicum of respect.

RX-8 is like the slowest sports car in the market atm. The only thing it can out accelerate is the miata and its not even a big gap either... lol

and from that thread while it sounded possible that he could get it that fast, the sheer facts showed that he was having trouble keeping it in the 12s.

Does anyone remember the Eddie Murphy standup (when he was funny) where he talked about how guys will deny anything and he gives the example of a guy getting caught by his girlfriend in bed with another woman, and he runs after his girlfriend and tries to say "wasn't me".... Man, the effort to make a fake slip, you should put your skills to use for Ashley Madison or something. Oh wait, you did get double busted, so don't make a career out of it.

i think back in 2004 and 2005 the car was pretty fast when comparing it to old 350z and g35s. but now in 2011. you have the new 370z, g37, sti , camaro SS, mustang 5.0L who are using new engines and upgraded parts from older models. and mazda has keep the same rotary engine for a long time. its over due for a new rotary with more power. i america we have open roads where straight line speed is fun. even a muscle car ( mustang 5.0L) is hitting 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and also keeping up with a m3 at the track, that why i don't call mustangs muscle cars anymore. its a sports car now 
the bottom line is that comparing the rx8 to newer models, it simply can not keep up.
