4 port to 6 port - doing it

Hoping someone familiar with this scenario with this can weigh in

Somehow I ended up with a 4 port engine in an 04 6sp. Hurray Craigslist!

As far as I can tell everything BUT the engine is original and set up for a 6 port engine (its got the instrument cluster, 2 oil coolers, the 6sp mt, and my ECM is flashed for a 6 port). Somehow, with all of that, it started up fine with the 4 port in there. Can't drive it at all (clutch still a work in progress), but it sounded/idled/revved up fine (new to rotarys, so my 'fine' is noob but it was super quiet and smooth so I'm assuming that is a good sign). Restarted easily after getting it to temp, so I'm assuming the compression can't be too awful as well.

Anyway, I've got a SEPARATE 6port engine (Hurray Craigslist x2!). I'm pulling the LIM, UIM, and everything fuel off of it and sticking it onto the engine in the car once I strip off the LIM/UIM/etc.

Assuming I'm not mistaken on the above info, do I need anything else to make this swap happen? Is the fuel pump the same between the two versions? Any other bits I should be scouring the interwebs for?

Thanks!

Just get rid of the car and find a 6 port/6 speed.

Hmmmmmmm I might take you up on that advice.. thought changing out the intake manifolds would be enough. But looking at pictures of the blocks, looks like the 6 port manifold won't be matching up right with the block

Maybe I'll just get the 4 port running and sell the 'franken RX8' as a collector item

Just a thought: is reving the 4 port past its original redline to the 6 port redline going to do naughty things to it?

It won't get enough air, so no point.

But it's not going to damage it right?

sounds like an easy swap to me .... assuming it actually did start life as a 6 port . Just buy a fully dressed 6 port engine and slap it in there .

Hurray, some optimism! My thoughts as well. Tearing down a 6 port for a rebuild already! Rebuild kits are ~$1500?? Or am I looking in the wrong places
