Engine rebuilt

Hey there Blue, sorry that you need a new engine. Mazda reman is about $4000 (engine only w/ core). I'm having mine rebuilt in Oregon by Pineapple Racing. They are using my core but it costs a bit more. All the name brand builders (Atkins, Racing Beat, Mazdatrix, Pineapple etc) were about $4500-6500 depending on options.
But before I went for the big money, I found this NorCal guy on Craigslist that rebuilds rotaries for parts + $800. Of course the final cost depends a lot on what is reusable in your particular motor. His name is Pete, and I'll PM you the email.

Anyone know someone who can rebuild in the Bay Area? No shops around here seem to want to, and I'm willing to travel a bit too if its a little out of the way. Thanks!

Hey inferno8, did you call Rotorsport in Santa Clara? Never used them but that shop was recently recommended to me.
And regarding my previous post about "this NorCal guy" that I found on craigslist last year rebuilding for $800 plus parts, I tried to contact him and there was no response...so that option is dead (maybe literally). Sorry Mli25!

^I spoke with rotorsport last year, and got the impression they do everything aside from rebuild the core (i.e. remove and strip the core, re-install). I could be wrong though and so it is worth a call to them. At the very least, they might know a place that can do it.
Someone mentioned a local race shop to me that apparently can do it, but I can't find the name now. It was a small (2 man?) place and I think it was in the livermore/pleasonton area... If you find it, or anywhere else local, I'd be interested to know.

dang, we need more rotary shops in NorCal.
on a side note: often times buying a rebuilt motor directly from Mazda (with core exchange) ends up being more cost effective than having one of the larger Rotary shops rebuild your current motor. The reason for that is costs can jump significantly depending on how much of the existing motor is actually reusable.
Hopefully you guys can get the cars back up and running soon.
