two things...
i went to heritage mazda today to buy a replacement for my waterlogged passenger tail light. $270...
second, i am just not a fan of blacked-out/smoked tail lights. I think it compromises a significant amount of light that could potentially warn some idiot behind you that you are stopping/slowing. Some people's are fine, you can see plenty of bright light out of them. But some are so tinted you can barely tell they are braking in daylight hours... too dark = dangerous for your car's rear end. whats the saying? "cover your ***"? yeah.
I guess i'm a bit conservative with car mods.. dont like smoked tail lights, dont like tint over the legal limit.. whatever... that said, i do plan on some intake/exhaust upgrades this summer, but my rule for mods is that I must be able to return the car back to oem if needed, one way or another.
ummm, and i REALLY want the rims off the new R3... that would be sick-nasty.

Quite personally, I'm not a fan of water logged tail lights. I think it compromises the tail lights PERIOD. Maybe if you blacked them out, you wouldn't be able to see that sick-nasty condensation.

Stig: did Heritage even think of volunteering the info about the replacement gasket, rather than a whole new housing? Revised Service Bulletin 09-005/09
The self-fix is to remove the housing as the PDF instructs, slosh the inside with about a cup of white vinegar, let it sit for a few minutes, repeat a few times, then rinse with distilled water. Cool air blow dry, then remount with new gasket. Takes a little time, bit of cash in pocket for more gas!
P.s. AmericanStig.. I do believe I saw YOU tonight... a blue 8 made a right on 24 from boulton street (I think that's the name). I was heading in the other direction. If it was you, you were haulin some ***!
Still waiting to see who has the green 8 across the campus where I work. Passed by him once on the way out; tried to make a sign but was rolling too fast
I believe the waterlogged taillight thing is really a warranty thing / TSB, so you shouldn't have to pay for that. Every now and then I notice a tiny bit ot moisture when it's cold, but nothing to make me want to get off my butt and do something about it till the next time I take it in for something else.
lpr I never get tired of seeing your sig on each page.

And the thing about the smoked tail lights is really with this girl i work with. She has a black 350z with blacked-out tail lights that are so dark you can barely tell shes braking in the daylight.Clear corners? I have no quarrels with those either as long as there's not a super bright blue led in there instead of amber colored light.
I think we have the EXACT same ipod set up, remember? how can i rip on you for that?
And subs.. i miss my big bass. i have 2 12's and a 1000 watts sitting in my basement because it wont fit in my 8..
definitely me. no doubt, i made that turn three times last night stopping in at freedies a couple times. zoom-zoom.
i'll fix your damn condensation problems. i'll remove the taillight, blow out all the moisture, then re-seal everything with foam tape. no vinegar (wtf??) needed. holler at your boy with the blown up 8.
i want my 8 back...

How is it that I never see any of you in BelAir?
I think I might have seen you around, LPR.
I drive a Galaxy Grey '06 with nothing more than the AFE shortshifter (and a crust of SALT!).
Then again, I don't run around BelAir much any more since I work in Timonium...
We should have a meet at Freddies
