Hey guys (and Meg if you are still out there).

Sorry I couldnt make Boneyard. The kid is taking up all my time and $.

That being, my 8 is in need of some work.

1. A few years ago I bought 4 OEM shocks from Vyn (at the time he was parting out the wrecked 8). I think they had 15-20k mi on them. They have sat in my garage ever since. Could I put them on my car now, or is this a bad idea (due to time they have sat, performance, safety....)

2. I'm in need of brakes/rotors. Do any of you locals have rotors with some life left in them that you want to sell? OEM or OEM Equivalent is fine for my daily driver.

thanks,
Nate

Nate I have a bunch of rotors that would be fine for street use.

Anything you buy from Vyn is questionable, no matter how long it sits.

Left overs

Hey everyone, I've still got a set of winter OEM (F/R) rubber mats and a trunk organizer if anyone is interested. $20 each! PM if interested. I'm in Shaker Heights and Kent so I can meet up anywhere in the area.

Brand new to the rx-8 and this forum, I live in wellington. It'd be cool to get out to a meet, even though its so cold out already.

Look for me though I commute to Cleveland Mon-Fri to get to college in my 8.

It sure did get quiet around here! Any updates? I think I'm gonna take the car out of the garage this week because of the meltdown.

not me. car stays garaged until we've had a couple hits of rain in march. even though it melted, there's salt still on the roads. my car doesn't go in that mess. that and it's on storage ins. so it cant be out anyway. well, cant be hit while out.

I'm a new 8 owner currently residing in Akron, but I travel down 76 to school/work on the week days and occasionally visit friends in North Royalton/Parma area on the weekends. I see at least 1 RX8 every day going the other way on 76.

Any chance you guys can point me in the direct of some 17 inch wheels that will fit my 09 R3? These stock 19's look amazing but the cost of rubber is just too high to justify keeping them around for too much longer. I've been trolling around Mazda 3 and 6 forums as well as NC miata forums looking for some 17's for sale that will fit but so far I can't find any (or any in the classifieds on this site). I'm starting to get nervous; while the current forecast isn't calling for snow any time soon, there is a slight chance of it snowing within the next 10 days.

RX8 in the winter is just a bad thing... like playing with a running hair drier in the shower. Oh and welcome!

saw Blueblaze the other day on Portage, near the strip. Turned on the street towards the Home Depot (the wing is the give-away). I was taking my daughter to breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

poacherinthezoo have you tried looking on tirerack? I got some cheap 17inch wheels with Blizzak tires for $1000 a few years back. But as everyone else has pointed out driving your Rx8 in the winter is no good. The road salt has destroyed bits and pieces of my car overtime. No matter how much i tried to keep up with washing it didn't really help. Had my oil cooler lines rust away and my a/c compressor leaks from all the salt corrosion. The cost of the repairs woulda been cheaper just to buy a beater car. I do have a truck now but the damage is done.

+1 on Tire Rack. I picked up a brand new set of Sparko's for the 335is that they had on special for $117 each. It's hit or miss but if you're just looking for something to mount snow tires on you can be flexible appearance-wise and get really lucky.

I have to confess to taking the RX-8 out on Saturday despite the left over salt on the roads. There's a really good car wash literally 300 yards from my house and I couldn't resist taking it out to play before washing it and tucking it back in the garage.

I actually have a set of 18" MSW wheels with Blizzak's already mounted on them that came off the 370Z. The bolt pattern is correct for the 8 but the offset is not the same. If you want to look into whether these would work with the proper adapter I want to get them out of my garage and would let them go really cheap.

+1 on the blizzaks. They are amazing in the snow. I drive mine year round and no problems whatsoever. And no T/C or S/C on mine either. The blizzaks are worst in damp conditions when the road is a bit greasy. But even then it's no big deal. I took my 8 50 miles to my girlfriend in a blizzard two weeks ago and it didn't even fased the car. The blizzaks are worth every penny.

Talk to Steve. (vyndictive) he might have a set for sale and if not he will know exactly what you need.

Tom, what offset and what size are the tires?

Steve, the offset is ET35. The tires are 225/50R18.

They're LM25 Blizzaks, which I wish they still made. I like them better than the new LM60's.

I'm up in Lorain, west of Cleveland. Been driving my 8 since october, love every minute of it. I'm down by Strongsville somewhat often, I have quite a few friends down that way. Looking forward to meeting up with all of you in the spring!

I guess I am west aren't I. Haha. And thank you sir, most defiantly looking forward to a meet. Hard to find some appreciative people in my neck of the woods. My car actually was owned in Avon/avon lake (can't remember). Anyone know anyone who sold a 2004 titanium gray, probably 32k miles on it back around October?
