Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.

Jeff charges $495 for the AP and $99 for the tune... that's about $600
You bought an AP for $350 and will pay $299 for Jeff's tune... that's about $650
Though... it does appear that some people wait for several weeks for their new AP to arrive, so maybe its better buying one used if you're impatient and don't want to wait as long

Yea...it is the shipping that gets me...(cost and "delays")
It would be interesting to have Jeff compare your tune to mine once it is done. Only difference is car age and your pulley...right?

Yeah... I just went and double checked my math on that one... But, you got it in hand and you're not waiting.
But jons car will have a few differences to yours. Intake. Ignition. And some others I'm sure.

Ah yes...I knew that there was something I was forgetting. As for the price...correct me if I'm wrong Doc...but didn't you have like an extra like $30 or something tied up in S&H with MM? As for the having it in hand...there is just so much negativity going around about Jeff's shipping procedures that I didn't want to risk it. Some of it is hogwash while some of it isn't and I found a way to get his tune without the risk so I hopped on it.
Well, sorta bad news I guess if you think about it.
I was trying to work out a deal with Montorse for the autoshow for some tickets (this has been an ongoing thing for a few weeks now) and unfortunately it fell through. Basically I had offered up something to them in exchange for free tickets to the autoshow, but they didn't get any tickets.
The GM of Montrose finally got back to us yesterday and informed us that they didn't get any tickets to pass out for the autoshow like they normally do due to cutbacks bcaus of the economy. So unfortunately if you want to go to the autoshow this year, you are going to hav to pay to get in. They didn't even have any discount tickets available to them.
Hence the reason I didn't want to promise anything in case something like this happened.
Megan and I tired guys. Sorry.

Accessport
So before I venture out into the engine tuning forum, I have a few questions here for Jon, Doc, and anyone else that's used or decided to purchase the Accessport...
First, The price has been dropped by both AP and MM has passed that price drop along... I've also read that AP isn't going to release an AP for the S2 RX8...
Does anyone know if AP is planning to drop support for the S1 RX8? Like they've dropped price to clear their inventory and be done with it?
2nd: Because tuning is designed to take all of your mods and work together (at least in the power train), does this mean that tuning is probably the last thing that you should do? Meaning that if you're going to tune, it would be worth it to have your ignition system installed, intake, midpipe, etc? Because if you get those later, you'd need a re-tune?
3rd: For my application... I'm planning on running my Hi-flow cat for autocross so Brian quits calling me a cheater... how does switching mods effect the tune? Should I get it tuned with OR without the cat? Does MM offer different profile tunes meaning that I could load a "w/ cat" profile and a "w/o cat profile"?
That's all for now. . . this **** is confusing!

Per Jeff and Brice the AP prices dropped across the board. They must have found a cheaper way of making their product...or more likely...they have recoup'd most of their initial investment into tuning and are in the green so they can reach out to more users by dropping the price.
Steve, I call you a cheater because of all your OTHER illegal mods, not just the midpipe. But that's irrelevent becuase you are still new so who cares, ya know?
As for the tuning we already talked about this. Unless you want a tune to mask the CEL for the midpipe then I would just get one tune. Also, if you get only one tune but it does have a mask for the midpipe it's an illegal tune, regardless if you run a HFC or not. Keep that in mind. Even if you don't tell anyone about it it doesn't make you less of a cheater. :p
Also, if anyone is going to the Cleveland Autoshow, stop by the NeOhio SCCA booth. You'll see my car, hehehe. I'll have pictures later.
Peace out, gota go work the show.

Can't think of anything else you would do to the car to impact a tune.
Maybe a little.... maybe a lot.
If you are referring to swapping mid-pipes, get it tuned with a mid-pipe then uninstall the AP for cat/high flow applications.
Without
I'm sure he'll work with you on that if you're will to pay for each "profile", but I think you'll be wasting your money.

The potential is there to further the tune more than the OEM coils can handle, but its really utilized in F/I applications more than N/A.
If he were to tune with his OEM coils and then switch to the BHR coils, he wouldn't notice a difference with the tune.
But if he tuned with the BHR coils and went back to OEM, there is no certainty the OEM will hold-up.

Hey All. Met a guy this morning in Lyndhurst who has a grey 8 and invited him to join the forum. Sorry I won't be able to make the car show next weekend but will try to get there some time for sure.
