The hardest part about getting car shots in Cincy is the backgrounds. Considering that the 8 doesn't look that great in a wooded scene, downtown is probably the best place, maybe Over the Rhine if you have the stomach for it. If there is some fairly modern buildings we could use after hours, then that might be an option.
At some point in the near future, I'd be interested in getting a few 8's together for shots in the right environment. If someone has a SUV, minivan (yeah, perish the thought) where we can do rolling shots, even better.
I'm always scouting new locals, but I have to admit that I don't get downtown anymore. If other photogs want to stage something, let me know. I have some gear we can use for multiple flash setups and try to get some good shots of our cars.
I wish I stayed in CA where I could go out to the desert and get some good sunset shots on the dry lake beds.
Normally I shoot motorsports (see sig) but I want to get more static shots in my portfolio.

I'd love to get together and shoot with you though. I don't have any flashes or anything special, but i get the most out of my ole' D50.
I just recently took some shots from across the river of my car, a friends GT3 and another's Z4M coupe. I rented a 14mm and a 35mm prime for that one. I do have a few spots that i've shot at and that i'd like to shoot at. Not entirely sure how many cars i could get into any of them though. I've always wanted to do some parking garage shots, but i've never gone out and done it.
We could probably talk my wife into driving her Freelander for rolling shots. the rear window rolls down and we could pull the spare tire off the back for less obstruction.
If you ever want to get together and teach me and try out some rolling shots, or just different spots in the area shoot me a pm.

oh wow..
I just meant, more of snapshots, as I'm nothing like good photographer... lol
but for sure I'll bring my camera, and have no objection to anyone who wants to take pictures for me...
here's the location under the highway, where my friends and I found near downtown.
Google Map

it's kind of on the edge of a private lot.
Last time while we were taking some pics, cops came by, but once we told him that we just want to take some cool pictures in front of the graffiti, they were fine though.

^ longworth hall. I know it well. On the weekends when 99% of the businesses there are closed, no one will hassle you for taking pics. As long as you're not dicking around and doing donuts that is.

I know someone who did some shots outside Paul Brown Stadium. Of course, Mike Brown probably wants to collect some money to pad his already fat wallet.
Old Milford has a lot of possibilities. Rolling shots work best with simple backgrounds without a lot of road signs, guardrails or other human elements. I had the idea about shooting through the Lytle Park tunnel and also dusk shots through Ft Washington Way westbound.
Maybe in August we can try some shots.
The drive I suggested was from the park. From the fuel to the park is straight down 50. The "after the park" drive would take about 45 minutes. There is also whitewater park if any of you have been there. And closer to downtown is mount echo park. Which is beautiful. I'm down for pretty much whatever. I'm just throwing out suggestions.
Whitewater is pretty far out from downtown and huge. Last time we (Ohio Rotaries) had a meet there, no one could find eachother and we ended up with 2 different tiny meets.
It is a really nice park though.
I'm open to whatever, but i'm far more interested in the drive than the park to be honest.

Here is what i'm thinking for a drive if we do Woodland Mound.

We usually get toyos, kuhmos, yokohama, and nitto tires.
BBR8
I can totally do the rims, did you want your tire pressure monitors swapped over? If so thats a tid bit more. Last set of swap rims i did on a rx8 at work ran like 86 bucks, thats M/B out the door using a quality HUNTER balancer.
859-462-0754 shoot me a text with your name and tag on here so i can get what you guys need and shoot prices to you!
but i agree on the woodland mound idea, that place has some good vantage points but i must admit i do love some frisbee golf!
I see how you guys are, wait until I'm gone to set up a huge gathering. It's because I've been driving the Miata to Fuel exclusively, isn't it? Sniff...
In all seriousness it's great seeing so many people active in this thread. I can remember how it was last year.
I promise to bring the 8 to Fuel at least once next time I'm home, it just won't be on a really nice day!

I'd say for those that don't head to fuel first, 12:30 at woodland mound. We can meet at the lower part of the park (the green marker on the map above).
Those of us that go to fuel in the morning can head over to the park about 12:00 or so to meet everyone there.
We can eat and BS, then head out for the drive.

I'll double check it this weekend if i get a chance.
