welcome mr. broke

Where at on the east side are you? I'm in Mariemont but will be moving to Milford here in a couple months.

I'm usually always at fuel, but i haven't been for the past 2 weeks, and won't be for the next two either

Moete: I haven't done a seafoam on my car yet so i'm of no help.

BB8 and Tact. I have to work on the 24th, but i'm trying to get out of there by noon. i might be able to swing up after that. I have no idea where to rent a roller locally though.

Saw 2 8's today... might be a record for me. Parked next to a blue S1 at the Skyline off 50 in Milford. Must work there, because it was still there when I left.

Also saw a Sunlight Silver up here in West Chester

I put everything back in place and started the car and my car didn't hold idle as usual for me when I disconnect my battery. So I tried to start my car again and the 8 didn't turn over. Just one click and...nothing, no humming or anything...just a click when you try to start it.

So the guy was nice enough to call their towing company to tell them not to tow my car tonight so it can stay their overnight. But I'm going to have to get it towed to the shop tomorrow.

I was talking with the guy and he thinks it may be a starter issue. I was thinking the same thing, but any ideas?

Sounds like it instantly drained the battery.

Check the chasis ground, and the connections at the starter. Also check that your battery terminals are clean and fit nice and tight.

Did you take out the alt and take it in for load testing?

There are only three reasons for a battery to be low in a car you just drove.
1. the battery is shot or getting there,
2. your alternator is not doing its job and charging it.
3. you have a bad ground and the short is draining your battery.

I see Mr Broke finally made it over. Welcome, you will find a lot more info on 8s over here.

Sucks that I am stuck out here while you guys are rolling fenders, I need to do the Speed's so I can put those nice wheels back on it that are currently on the 8. The Yokohamas on them are sticky enough to throw up little pebbles off the road (it turns out that a Cool Breeze Scoop mounted on a Miata does a really good job funneling those suckers into one's lap).

Installed a new battery in the 8 last night. I was having hard starting issues before for about a month or so. So I finally got around to picking up a battery at the local Mazda dealership and after dinner last night, I was able to install it without any problems. Car starts up like a champ now! Did a voltage test on the new battery before I installed it..12.72v compared to my old battery of 10.2 and decreasing with a bad cell. I am surprised it lasted this long to be honest with you.

God, I wish there was enough interest in the S2's to put something like this together. If I didn't love mine so much already, I'd sell it and get a cheaper S1 and turbo it.

I would love to build a custom turbo kit.

Just don't have the time.

Yeah, we don't have a lot of options on S2s. Even cat back exhausts have few choices.

Regarding 135i or 1M: At first I thought they'd be pretty cool, but one of the car rags didn't really like it a whole bunch . Besides, optioned out close to an R3 you pony up an additional 20K. For $53K, I think I could find a car with better performance and lower cost of maintenance.

Now if Mazda would come up with a $35-40K performance coupe with about 300HP (sounds like an RX-7) with updated interior and 50-50 weight distribution, I'd consider it. What I'd be interested in is the new GTI R with 270HP/258 Ftlb. Now only if VW improves build quality and reliability....

Personally, if i were looking at 135/1m's i'd just buy a clean e36 M3 (almost the same size and a lot lighter) swap in a euro spec engine and boost it. You'd come in at about $25 - 30K with all the goodies and a serious suspension/cage/seats.

Or i'd buy a 996 GT3 at 50k and call it a day.

So when do we want to do this photoshoot?

WAY EAST, actually in Williamsburg, but I work in Blue Ash and pretty much have to go through Milford to get anywhere.

Did anyone make it to Easy Street in Milford before it got lame? I only made it once but it was a blast. I'm bummed that it's gone.

I'm thinking of getting vanity plate for the 8 "R3KNAW" any thoughts? "******" was considered inappropriate.

BB8: the R3 skirts should fit with no problem. The rockers haven't changed.

I can do either day of the first two weekends of Oct., the morning of the 15th (early morning shoot before fuel could work) or possible a week night after work any time in there. Saturday or Sunday work. We just have to make sure there isn't a Bungles game if we do a sunday evening.

The last two weekends of the month will most likely be spent moving and cleaning up. I might be going to columbus later on in the afternoon on the 15th to cheer my brother on in his first full marathon on the 16th.

If you do the MS sides with the OEM AP front lip like above, do the Home Depot lip. It brings the front down to even out with the sides.

ChiefMG did it with his wife's 8 and it looks great.

It's final!

I put my 2 weeks in at my job yesterday. I work at Vivid Racing and Rob (co-owner) was very nice and gave me his blessing and offered to write a letter of recommendation! I love it here! This place is amazing, but the wife got transferred for her job back to Cincy so I will be looking for another job back at home. We are driving both of our cars back. We leave the 30th of this month at 5am and will be in Cincy on Oct 2nd about mid afternoon. We will be backing like crazy on the 29th.

So if anyone needs any parts, let me know. It will help with gas and what not for the trip!

I will be back in Cincy Oct 2nd!!!!! Everyone ready?! Haha WOOOOOO HOOOOOO

I love my 8, don't get me wrong, but I just cant help but fall in love with a 135i and the 1M. Being around them here at work and dealing with all the performance parts and power that they can put out and the handling, I will pick one up within a year or two. But in that time..I will still keep modding my car. I hate a stock looking 8!

I get back from a two week trip to Las Wages and SoCal on Oct 7 late. I doubt I can haul myself out of bed to do a photo shoot on Oct 8 before Fuel. Maybe during the week of the 10th or the 15 Oct I could make it.

Congratulations on your green card Tact! I guess I'll have to wait to see you again after your return.

Those of you headed for Mid-Ohio on Saturday should look for my wife, she's attending (probably be in the Speed6, unless her daughter doesn't go and then she might take her 8).

Second week of Oct for me, I should be home then and have enough leash that I'll be allowed out (especially if we get some nice shots of her car).
