Good luck trying to find one. I got curious and did a search countrywide on an early 70's Capri. Only one I found was a 76, but they weren't that good by that time. It was a fun car to drive, but the build quality was typical of that period. Easy to work on though. If I recall, the 6 cyl was a bit heavy up front, but it did pull pretty well.

I remember cracking the stick shift on Winton Road, right in an intersection. I wasn't even slamming gears. Just moved it from neutral to first and it fell off in my hands. Cop came up and told me to move the car. Now how could I do that if I couldn't get in in gear? He said that was my problem and if I didn't move it in 5 minutes, he'd give me a ticket. So lucky for me I had a screw driver and I managed to pull back the boot and jam the shaft down into the linkage and at least get it into first gear and off the street. I think I had it towed after that.

Wish I would have kept the Capri. I ended up buying a 74 Camaro that rusted through in 3 years. It was a big POS. Sold it in early 78 with rust on the rear quarter panels and around the taillights.

well it looks like the CiSCC's pe#2 is up for pre-reg now http://myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmE...event_id=12420 id advise all to make it if they can(or if they actually have and event this time). also i spent the weekend down in luisville racing with the kentucky region. great people and a great venue. got to see don morgan and ryan Zupancic make some great runs with there stx rx-8's(i could learn a thing or 2). i myself spent the race in a ds cobalt. nice to have some power for a change and i kinda forgot how well that car rotates....here is a video from one of my slower runs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PHFgzJPHtU

Saw a fellow 8'r today in Maineville, or better referred to as "Hoptown". It was in the shopping center where Gold Star, El Picante, New China, Grinders, Etc is. It was a VR, tinted windows, and a rotary emblem on the gas cap. I trolled around for a few minutes and waited for the owner to appear, with no such luck.

HA-HA...that car's owner was in El Picante getting wasted on happy hour specials to celebrate getting her term paper done on the horrific effects of carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles. If she hadn't of over done it in there she planned to go spend a tank of gas afterward driving back roads to emit some of those said emissions just as a tip of her hat to the cause Some days the guilt from my environmental engineer within overwhelms me and I just need a drink - it is either that or drive a Prius.

LMFAO!
Oh my god that's awesome. Lol. You and I've gotta get a mini meet together with a few other members. Carve up some of the back roads :P
When you're not getting wasted on happy hour specials

Hey all. Brand new to the RX-8 scene. Had my R3 for about a month now. Since then I can only remember seeing 3 or 4 8's around the West Chester/Milford area. Pretty rare around here?

Indeed we all need to meet up, we will have fun. Welcome Atredeus! I am not sure if we are "rare", I used to not see anybody but lately I have seen more and more 8's. They must have been hibernating or something

Well I guess I could see "hibernation". Some probably have something other than RWD car to drive in the winter :P

Here's a bad picture of my new ride. Black on Black :D

Welcome

Nice R3.

You should bring it to Fuel on Saturday. It's supposed to be nice. Info on it is somewhere in the last few pages. If not, i can post it again.

You can't beat a well-balanced RWD car in the winter. I have some stories about my RX-7 back in the day.

You all need to come to Fuel on Saturdays, we can have a nice Mazda meet and take over the parking lot. Not that it will take a lot of cars for that, but still! If the weather is nice I'm in the Miata, someone will have to really talk me into bringing the 8.

Welcome to the site. As fuz just said, you should bring it down to Fuel this Saturday. Coffee and cars is from 8 til noon, I don't get there til around 10 or so.

The address is 2726 Riverside Drive
Cincinnati, OH 45202

Fuz and I will both be down there so there's at least two 8's.
Anyone else coming this weekend?

Sweet. Have a good time man. Fuel happens every saturday, and i'm there pretty much every saturday. CheifMG, Redsun, and Tacti are usually there too. Brilliant Black has been coming lately, and kwikslvr makes an appearance every now and again.

I'll be there as will Tacti. We're heading up to his place to do his springs afterward.

Hey James, the wife is planning on going this saturday with the dog in tow. Figured i'd let you know if you two were planning on coming.

Yeah, I'll be there this Saturday.
Kevin will help me on spring install after fuel. (thanks!!)

If he doesn't mind, I'm okay if anyone wants to head to my place.... Well it's in Oxford so it'll be a bit of drive though... And it's mostly boring highway drive too...
But may be I can take the grill out if there's any interests.

Where did you find the '09 R3? Looks in good shape. Too bad they stopped importing anything but the Velocity Red R3.

I almost bought a 11 R3 from Jake Sweeney back in April. They had a "new" one that I took out. It had about 1000 miles on it. It must have been on the lot since last Fall. Opened up the trunk and Christmas wrapping paper was in there. They didn't seem to motivated in selling the two they had on the lot. Besides, I had a string of red cars, the last being a MS6, so I opted for a demo '10 GT from Kings.

As for Fuel, I'm going to finally make it down this Saturday. A friend of mine is coming in his Exige and maybe another friend in his RX-7. Looking forward to finally meeting some folks.

Woohoo. Get to meet a newbie, get to meet a newbie.
I kid, I kid, Glad you're making it down. Saturday looks to be nice. Last weeks turnout was huge, I'm assuming the same for this week if the weather stays clear for sat.
