I had bought one from Sears but it was too thick (my 21mm impact socket works on all my other stock Mazda wheels). Stopped by Pep Boys today and was able to get a 6 point 21mm socket that works. Got the Fiamms installed tonight, they aren't too much louder than the stockers (unlike what I thought) but have a high/low tone which should give enough extra to get people's attention.

Great, now I know where to get a new thin 21mm without having to order one. I've never been a big horn person but want to hear them. I think the stock ones are a little weak as well.

I started putting Fiamms in all my cars with my RX-7. There are too many oblivious drivers out there, especially today, I want to make sure I get their attention. Scare the crap out of them and **** them off (usually, then they flip me off), but avoid an accident. Only car I haven't had to change the horns on is the Speed6.

The socket was $5.99 plus tax. I was very happy to get it. Not sure why it is that much thinner than the Sears deep socket I bought, but with the 6 point I don't think I have to worry about it breaking.

Anyone know how to leave a trader score for someone? I have done it on other forums using it, but I can't find how to do it on here.

And why don't our posts in the regional subforum count towards our total? All the other forums I am on only exclude off-topic posts. It just seems like it gives a false indication of how active you might be.

Chief..I use to have the Magnaflow for the 8. Great sounding exhaust for the 8. Had nothing but great compliments.

As for a better sounding exhaust and better performing and looks wise..should have bought the Agency Power. Best sounding exhaust for the 8. Love it and very exotic sounding.

I "might" make it. Wife is pissed because she found a couple of scratches on her car today. I told her now she knows how I feel. Anyway if I do come down I might be in the Speed.

Chiefmg: scratches suck. I park downtown all day and constantly check for scratches and dings. For the life of my I can't remember what i did to leave Trader Score feedback. I could have sworn all i did was click on the user's score, but now it says I don't have access. Not sure on the post count thing either. I would think all of our posts here would count except for the lounge.

kwikslvr: congrats on the intake. I'll have to check it out if i see you saturday.

It's ironic, I am that way with all my cars (park in end slots, away from people etc) and whenever I got a ding, my wife would say it's no big deal. She gets two small scratches and it's practically the end of the world.

That is the way I recall the Trader score working on other sites. I'll post something for a mod to see, maybe they don't know it's locked out.

kwikslvr: how'd the intake install go?

Chiefmg: My wife is slowly starting to understand my obsession with keeping the car clean and scratchless. Hopefully I'll have time to wash it tomorrow after I change the oil.

Hopefully i'll see a couple of you at Cars and Coffee tomorrow. I'll be there about 9:30 or 10:00. I won't be there too late though since I'm starting work on the 24hrs of Lemons car a few of my buddies are entering this year. Should be fun.

My wife was thinking about coming tomorrow, now she has decided I should go alone and check it out first. So I'll be there around 10ish barring any unforeseen difficulties. Only question now is which car I'll be in...

Chiefmg I just missed you. Saw the car there and went in to get coffee, and you were pulling out right as i was walking out of the building. Car sounds good though. They plan on keeping it going through the winter, so maybe I'll see you at another one.

Sorry about that. I'm not one to invite myself into a new group, I was waiting for any RX-8s and saw the TiG pull in. Walked over to look at it, then decided to leave so I wouldn't have to hear the crazy guy in the pickup (dealt with too many of those types when I went to school in NY). I'll definitely be back before I leave, and probably have the wife along now that she knows she can get a mocha! I did get some weird looks when I asked for a Coke (I don't drink coffee).

Seems like a nice, low-key group though. As a plus I can sit and look at the river going by.

Yeah it's pretty low key. A lot of vintage porsche guys show up in the summer. No burnouts or ricer flyby's. I go pretty much every weekend I can, so let me know if you're going and I'll try to get their earlier so ican introduce myself and some of the guys I know.

That sounds good. I'll try to make it next week.

On another note, I received a complete radio with 6 CD changer I bought off eBay today. Turns out the changer has a CD stuck in it so it won't work at all. I'm upset because the seller had stated he tested the deck. There is no way he didn't know it was broken, as soon as you plug it in the thing starts cycling trying to spit out the disc. I'm requesting a return, and now I have to search for another 6 disc changer. I wonder if one from another Mazda of similar vintage would work, since it's a modular unit?

Well, just got in from installing a 6 disc changer from an '02 MPV, and it works! I posted in the electronics section if anyone is interested.

Wanted to ask if anyone else has had a problem I have noticed. About every third or fourth time we turn on the HVAC fan, the A/C compressor comes on with it. No apparent reason (as in, we didn't have it on when we shut the car off) so I am baffled. Is this something that is a normal glitch, or do I have to fix something?

Yep that's me. I think i remember talking to your wife about it. Mine needs a bath too, this weather is killing me. Feel free to stop by and say hi sometime. I have plenty of tools and beer (usually) if you need something. If my car is in the driveway or out front, it usually mean I'm home. My name's Kevin.

I can't say that i've noticed that happening with mine. If your temp is on the cool side and the defroster is on, it might kick on the A/C compressor. I'm not sure if that's the case with the 8, but a lot of cars kick on the A/C for defrost if it's set to the cool side. Just a thought.

Looks like i'm out and not going to make Fuel tomorrow. Too much stuff to do and too little time. Plus it's way to cold to stand outside and talk cars

My three modern Mazdas are set up so when you are in defrost mode the A/C compressor cycles. I know about this operation, what I am talking about is the green light on the A/C button coming on (as if you had pushed it) as soon as the fan is turned on. Something is going on there, I just didn't know if it was a known problem or not.

I called the place we bought the car from to ask about a couple of things, one being not yet receiving the title. I was told yes, there was an issue but they had corrected it and would be getting the title to send to us on Monday. Um, when were you going to tell me this, as my temp tag runs out on Wednesday?

Yeah, much as I love cars it is going to be way too cold tomorrow for Fuel. Now, if the building was a bit bigger it would be a different story.

I'd say there is something odd going on if the A/C light actually comes on. I've never seen that unless i've accidentally hit it. Sucks that the place you bought it from is screwing around with the title. Hopefully they'll get it to you ASAP. I'm hoping it warms up a little today or tomorrow. I have a coolant leak to address. Looks like it's just corrosion where the hose meets the thermostat housing, but i have a new hose ordered just in case.

My A/C light comes on every time I turn the defroster on, even if the setting is on warm. I usually just push the button and turn it off. I just assumed that was the way it was set up, because my old Civic was set up the same way.
