Thought about it, or an X5 (v8's have enough tow capacity for the m3 and a light trailer) but i pushed her to a car for the gas mileage. With the kid, we're driving a lot for family stuff so everyone can see her. The TL has more usable room than her Freelander, and has way more rear seat and leg room than an X3 and really any smaller SUV/Crossover. We did look at e60 (2004+) 5 series, but their upkeep is way higher than my old *** bmw's, and their electronics are questionable until you get into years that were way out of our price range.

She did like the Freelander a lot, I hated it because it was impossible to work on, get parts for, and expensive to upkeep. So when they eventually decided to total it out i was happy. We got more for it than what we owed on it, and likely more than I could have sold it for. Win, win in my book.

That's what I hear but it's 40 mile drive. As long as I had the 8, kings never got the oil change right. How hard is it to not overfill the oil? No matter, once I sell the 8 in a couple months they won't get their paws on it. My Miata will go to an independent shop. The CX7 I haven't decided where to take it.

[QUOTE=Rotary-Kytten;4559261]Welcome aboard and welcome back! Tell us about your 8 and where you are living! Once it starts to warm up you will see more meets for sure and general rotary fun. Near the end of April will be the tenth year anniversary of Deal's Gap Rotary Rally so you should try to attend if you can - a great weekend of rotary fun on some great roads! http://www.dealsgaprotaryrally.com/

Well I bought my 8 in 2012 right after I got out of AIT. I was home for 2 weeks before I went to my first duty station. So I bought my dream car for the past few years and drove it from Los Angeles to Fort Knox ky. As of now he only thing I have done is I put some bronze mb battles on it with some new tires. I have tein coilovers , an AEM cold air intake , and a stage 2 clutch with a light weight flywheel sitting in my extra room ready to be installed. I'm not new to meets and things cause back in Los Angeles I would go to a lot of meets in my ae86 or my mustang which both were set up for drifting. My buddies had FC or 240sx or ae86 or anything that would go sideways. Hoping to make some new friends over here to and really get back in to the car scene again. Hope there are some fun events around and the weather gets a lot better

I'm glad you guys are posting your bad experiences with Kings up before I took the Speed there. Guess I'll be changing the clutch myself after all when it comes time.

They did my Speed6 clutch TSB back in 2008 and they did a good job. Back then they were good and the dealership did right by me. They lost several service advisors the past couple years. I keep hearing they have the best rotary tech around. Not sure about that. They haven't found a dipstick in the 8 I guess. Simple enough to drain the oil, change the filter, fill oil, and then check the dipstick for oil level. I'm wondering if they're even using the right oil.

Kerry sounds pretty good. Not sure about Sweeney. So far Sweeney BMW is OK. It's taken them 3 trips to quell the annoying squeak coming from the rear shelf. At least I get free loaners from them.

That Jag looks nice Steve. I almost went today. Decided to wash a weeks worth of salt off a couple cars.

Bet you can't wait to put back on the Raijins. A couple more months.

Welcome Curly. A lot of us have moved on from the RX8, but there is still some action and i see more of them on the road now than i did when i had mine.

Wendy: MM is still your best bet for tuning. Unless you want to drive to Texas. Give Defined a call, they may be willing to give it a shot, but the reality is, there really aren't many rx8 tuners period. Defined is as close to a local rotary shop there is.

Happy New Year to the rest of you dudes.
Congratulations on the new job. Sorry to hear about the accident but glad no one was hurt. Hope to run into you at Fuel sometime and catch up (I have about a month before I come home).

I had free oil changes at Kings with mine. I used it once. They wouldn't do it every 3k, and they would only put in the recommended water thin 5w20, so i just did it myself. They also put no effort into draining all of the oil which i did every other change.

Chief: good to hear you're only a month out. Hopefully good weather will come with you.

You bet! Yeah that Jag was nice, wish the guy would put the bonnet down for some pictures, its hard to get good shots when every door is open on cars.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do. Should be easier now since I just found out this morning they have adjusted our schedule and now I'm looking at more like another 7 weeks before heading home.

It's all good man, you aren't a jinxer...or are you?

They have set a new record as of now, three changes within the last 24 hours. The latest one has me probably only doing about an extra week, although we don't know the discharge port yet so it's not clear. I'll see what tomorrow brings.

Anyone tired of winter? I spent a week in NorCal and still there's two inches of salt on the road when I returned.

At least I washed the Bimmer and started the 8 today.

I just picked up a beat up 92 Miata. Gotta fix quite a few things on the list, but hopefully it'll be up and running (drivable already, but drive poorly...) soon.

anyone wants to give me hand ?? we can do another bbq party?
Chief, I actually might need your advice when you get back...

Congratulations Tact. You're going to find these little cars are addictive. If you are on Facebook there is an Ohio Miata Owners group, lots of knowledgeable and friendly folks on it.

One thing to check (if you haven't already) is if you still have the stock 1.6 engine if it has a short or long nose crank. If the short, they can have a problem with the crank pulley keyway failing which is a bad thing.

it has 1.6 but i believe the engine was replaced at some point. I read about checking the crank wobble, but didn't know about the long nose / short nose thing... I found how to check that, so i'll do that tomorrow.

the car has some fuel delivery issue. when i accelerate hard (revving to high rpm) and press clutch to shift up, it feels like cutting off the fuel. Feel like the fuel pump, fuel filter, or electrical/vacuum that runs the pump is bad. I read some people having similar issue and find AFM connection or something. I'll probably start working on her once it get slightly warmer... hopefully by end of this season, I can take her out for an event, but well.. don't know...

I checked the pulley and it looks like a long nose crank. so at least that is a good thing... I really want to start working on her, but just can't convince myself t lay on the concrete floor while garage temperature is barely mid 30s with space heater on...
