do you plan on cutting any vents in it? or i guess you could dimple the bottom of it like a golf ball. I forget what car has that maybe a saleen.. but it helps provide enough downforce it could theoretically drive upside down or something like that.

motor out?
Anybody around here have an an rx-8 engine out of their car I could come to just take a look at? Need to check something out on the way the motor is set-up compared to the earlier FC FB motor.

Apokalypse Rayne
Does anybody know who drives the blue RX-8 around the western hills area by Glenway Ave? I see it all the time. It has aftermarket rims and a CAI vent in the front. Usually see it parked by Chic-Fil-A by the new Chipotle.

So....I'm about ready to turn the key...the battery is charging. The fuel pump is primed, the fluids are in...but....the problem is....when I sold the old transmission, I didn't have the presence of mind to take the top "tower" I guess off of the old transmission that holds the shifter in place.
Anyone have one of those they'd like to "lend" me?
This part...if anyone is wondering..
The one held in by four bolts..
Clearly I can't shift the car without it.
Thanks to Fuz and rx8funman for helping me out this weekend!

hey does anyone from around here use the BHR ignition system? If so could you tell me a little about it, does it improve gas mileage, or horsepower? Do the BHR sparkplugs do anything different than a stock plug? Right now im getting close to 30,000 mi thinking about doing a ignition swap.

Truva,
The BHR doesn't really improve mileage or power, but can help gain back what you've lost from failing coils. It's far more reliable and consistant and doesn't need replaced every 30k or so. It's a good buy especially since coils are getting more expensive. Can't go wrong really. BHR sells OEM plugs. There really isn't any other plug to use, unless you boosted and even that is arguable.

I have the BHR ignition as well as a couple others. It's worth the upgrade. Coil packs on these things have a very weak dwell, so it is a worthy upgrade to the LS type coil, just from a reliability perspective.

Just for the record, for plugs you should always use stock replacement NGK. BHR uses this in it's kit, the coils themselves are off-shelf General Motors LS2 V8 coils packs from a Yukon, and the wires are MSD 8mm, specifically cut to our application with your choice of color. I've had my car for five years and by the third time of having to change coils, I was frustrated. I say just do it to save some headaches down the road.

I have an OEM hood in primer black, single disc radio, HVAC controls (maybe), and I think that might be all that's left, I can't remember lol
Definitely willing to negotiate if someone is interested in the parts.
Oh, and yesterday I installed my HKS Hi Power :D
LOVE everything about it.
bumper and fender should be painted by next week.
I also picked up a sheet of aluminum for cheap, so I'm going to try and fabricate an undertray since I don't want to pay 150+ for one.
Mulit-color tinted fogs are sitting in my room waiting to be installed with my 3k HID fog kit.
I'm probably going to vinyl wrap my metra kit faceplate and the silver trim pieces with flat black vinyl.
And I think that's about it for now.

Yep, but I got an email from them this afternoon regarding their Fat Tuesday celebration. Could be really crowded. Not sure the beer specials will be on due to the "holiday".
Let's get a final headcount and see who can make it. If not Fox and Hounds, there's Flip Daddy's on Mason Montgomery Rd (old Bob Evan's across from Golden Corral/Frisch's). I haven't been there yet, but I hear it's good (and beer selection is good too).

The RX8 lives!
Well, sortof. The drivers side oil cooler bolt got crossthreaded...so it's leaking like a sieve. I need a new one.
As well as the top of the transmission....that's held on by four bolts, near the shifter..I need it as well. But Mazda has it for 80, so I think I can handle that.
Thanks again Fuz!

As far as vents go, I don't have the tools to make them vented like any professional aftermarket part. But I have a few things in mind, I'll update once I have time to do this. For now i'm thinking about putting a small mesh in front of the A/C condenser/radiator to keep debris from damaging it, just as the RB one does.
yea, I'd love to, problem is with school and work I never really have time to "hang" with people

After class tonight I am having some unexoected company I guess so I am obligated to entertain them for a few hours so no Foxy Hound for me. I love being a responsible adult...not! On a good note I hope my new exhaust setup gives them a headache if we take my car, lol.

I'll be traveling next week so maybe the 1st full week in March? It might be warm enough to put on the summer rubber (hopefully)
Kevin, I'm getting the Spring spring itch. How's your schedule looking early March some weekend? I'm not telling the wife I got the springs just yet. I doubt she would notice the drop. She's not good at determining measurements. I've been telling her that for 29 years.
