Doesn't say much for us if we hang out at Burger King.

There's a Liquid Silver GT not too far from where I live off Foster Maineville. I'm up on Fields Ertel all the time (unfortunately). I try to stay away from that place on Saturday AM and rush hour. Too many crazy, stupid idiots (mostly minivan and pick up truck drivers) out during those times.

I have a good discount on my oil change already. It's free from Kings.

Thanks for the offer. Where do you work again?

Having some issues with the Rex recently. I've been having hesitation an stuttering issues around 3000-4000 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. I've been reading around the forums and have pulled and cleaned the MAF and am trying to find time to check the ESS and the SSV since checking around the forums has lead me to believe those could be the culprit. Anyone have prior experience with this issue or any advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Well I bought the car with 19500 miles and I'm about to tip 24000. I don't believe they have been changed. I was thinking that could possibly be the culprit. Is there an easy way I could check them all to see if they have gone bad?

you can buy a coil tester to test them. Testing them with a multimeter is pretty pointless. You can get all 4 coils from Advanced for about $100 which is dirt cheap. I believe they have been proven to be rebadged OEM one. If they've never been changed, it's a good chance that they're failing. Are you getting a flashing CEL? If so, then it's pretty much a give that they are toast.

If it's the coils, now might be a good time to upgrade to a BHR ignition, if you can afford it at the moment. Takes a while to get it though.

I'm not getting a CEL at all. I'll look into getting a coil tester. Would be handy to have. Unfortunately all my money is still going to lawyer fees at the moment so the BHR will have to wait. Thanks for the info!

OEM coils are notoriously short lived on these cars. In the two years I owned mine, I've replaced them twice.

Dan,

Your 8 knew you were thinking about another car and it was just having a hissy fit over you defecting to another brand.

Had you stayed with your 8 and gave off positive thoughts, your gas mileage would have improved to 25 city/40 highway.

Not to mention his hot start issues would have never happened!

Fuel manana? I'll be in the Miata unless it flashes the CEL (showing overheating) again. Had it out for a short drive today after replacing the thermostat and it seemed ok. I need to get my new brakes bedded in before Sunday.

I think I'll bypass Fuel on Saturday. My tires might melt and stick to the pavement.

I actually did some yard work at 9PM last night. Didn't get a lot done though.

Haha very funny guys. I wouldn't call it defecting so much as a postponement of owning a Mazda.

Thanks Kevin. Unfortunately on our way to pick up the VW I noticed an unusual noise. Pulled over to find the crank overlay pulley had loosened up. Shut it down and had to wait two hours for a tow truck. So now I have to try and find a pulley that will bottom out on the crank pulley.

I forgot to post about this, if anyone is looking for a nice windshield sunshade for their 8, I got one from here: Custom Windshield Sun Shade 2003-2011 Mazda RX-8 Best Fitting Shade MA-14 | eBay

Perfect fit, has a nice Velcro strap to hold it once you roll it up. I am sourcing some vinyl letters to mark it from a guy I know on another forum, here's hoping they will stick and stay stuck.

So I went and picked up an ignition spark tester from autozone yesterday and just tested all my coils and wires and apparently coil 1 the forward leading coil isn't firing... Going to replace ASAP and hopefully will fix my hesitation and stuttering problems in 3rd and 4th. Its nice to have helpful and insightful people here to ask for advice when needed.

Just waiting for the day I get my license back to be able to meet up with everyone at Fuel. Will let you know if the replacement fixes the problem.

Let us know how it fits/looks. All I have is the twist and unfold type. I have it in the Miata right now and it doesn't exactly fit.
