New Mexico?
Sup all. Ronnie good to hear from you. I believe I am the only black on black.. Plus I'm the one and only RX-OCHO on the plate..
I saw a silver 8 today with some nice wheels, tried to get his attention but he didn't bother looking. I am seeing more moded 8's but these drivers don't seem to be visiting the site. ?? Craig glad to hear your thinking about coming out. It's always a blast.. I just hope the rain doesn't screw everything up.. But I'm staying positive.. I need to clean my car so bad, rain has just been trashing it. Maddog what you been doing, you making an appearance again. C-Ya justin

Sup guys.
Yeah, I've been out of it lately. I've been down to the drag strip a few times in the past month. Always good times spanking V8s in a legal setting for a change! No gaurantees, but I'll try to make it out tonight.

Hey guys... so far as I know we're going to try and get the races in tonight. Will see how the weather turns out. We've been lucky in the past and the storms miss us but with these storms lately... geez!
My car might be a bit muddy tonight... seems the rains washed a whole lot of dirt across the only road into/out-of my subdivision... never thought I'd have to take the 8 muddin' ;-)

It is a shame that the rain came and put a damper on things last night, but in the same note it sure was fun taking the 8 out and running a few slower laps on a wet track as well!
Crarig and Ona it was really nice meeting you two last night and I for one look forward to a futture get together with the two of you as well as with everyone else here!
Talk to you soon,
Jim

Craig, it was great that you made it out. To bad for the rain.....
MD that sucks... well at least the water didn't get into your car. 3 co-workers of mine have had their cars completely flooded by water. So what has your time slips been on the ¼ track?
Well we need to get the 8’s out for some breakfast and a drive for crying out loud…

NM Ocho & Stinger, it was great to meet you guys on Saturday. We had a blast and can't wait for the next one. Thanks for the ride, Stinger. Ona and I are excited to try it out in our 8. Justin, my wife and her sister really enjoyed their ride along with you. After all the grumbling, that was all my sister-in-law could talk about the rest of the night. LOL!
MadDog, sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope it doesn't amount to any major repairs.
I agree with Ocho, we need to get everyone out on the road together. Maybe we could even take a cruise up North 14 to Madrid and have lunch at the Mine Shaft. Hope to see you all again soon.
Take care,

Take care,
The Madrid trip sounds great to me! The 2 best days where me and the wife will be able to both attend is the 19th a Saturday or the 27th a Sunday. The rest of this month is taken up with prior comitments or the wife is working.
Sorry to hear about your problems there MD! Is it running better or are you still concerned about the lack of compression?

8/27 is open for me. I wonder if the friggin rain will let up by then!
Stinger, compression seems to be fine. It took about 3/4 of a tank of gas to get things running right, but its back to normal. I'm planning on an oil change before driving it again, though. By the way, at 12 psi, the 8 is faster than just about any street legal car - except a Porsche 911 Turbo!! That car is CRAZY fast!!
I don't feel too bad, though. It does 0-60 in 3.6 sec and turns the 1/4 mile in 11.5

MD, I bet your car is way sick..!!!! I can't wait to talk to you more about it.. and maybe drive it..
Ok so like Fred I have done the intake bypass. Very easy thing to do. It cost me about 6 bucks worth of parts to complete. I have to say it does feel like that lag in the lower RPM's is better and just little more throttle response out of it throughout the rpm's. I did a couple of runs to 120mph and drove for 25 minutes non stop.. I actually could put my hand on the intake without immediate burning.. the bypass hoses were super hot.. So I am very pleased with it.
Parts list....
Brand HELP! 41050 part number, Rubber Vacum Caps from Autozone 2.99 need two 5/16 caps so get two boxes
Next Go to Samons and get Brass Barrbed 5/16. Take you rubber cap to make sure you pick up the right part, as their brass connections were a mess. 1.29 for this part.
Total cost about 6.00
It took me 1hr and 30 minutes and that was with me cleaning my Revi air cleaner and box. Not including test drive..
Fred and I can point out what hoses to remove and connect. Basically use the brass to connect the hoses and cap of the spouts on the throttle body.

27th might be an issue with me. I have visitors in town that weekend and they don't leave until early afternoon on Sunday....darn!
Pep Boys has a combo box of rubber caps with about 6 different sizes for about $1.99 if you are thinking about doing the throttle body mod. Buy that one and you only need that one box of caps.
I can't put a finger on any improvements that the mod might have provided, but like NMOcho I'm glad I did the by-pass. The idea of hot water in the throttle body really hits me wrong. I'll keep the mod in place unless and until someone is able to give me a good reason for why there is coolant going to the TB.
BTW a trip to Colorado Springs last week in the 8 netted an mpg of 27.43 on the way up - at 65mph and 24.6 on the way back - 75 mph.

Long time no see.
I might be able to come on the 27th, too.
However, I need to buy new tires. After 10k miles my Bridgestones are almost slicks. I have been reading the tire threads for two days now. I came to the conclusion to get either the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S or the Avon 550 M/S at 245/40/18 sizes. I am more keen on the Pirellis. Do you have any recommendations where to get them and install them? I thought using Tire rack and Midas Auto Service in Santa Fe. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I got my PZero's at Discount and they were very good on cost. I'm very happy with the tire as well. From the Bridgestone there is reduced road noise...better ride, but they aren't as sticky as the bridgestones. It is said the PZero's are good in snow, but I can't say since I haven't driven them in snow. I am pleased with how they handle in the rain.
Hey peeps,
Ona and I are down for the 27th. We are looking foward to it! Now all we have to do is hammer out the details. Sorry to hear you might not make it , Kewl, we were looking forward to meeting you.
Did anyone catch the next date for the AutoX? I heard one of the guys making an announcement as we were leaving but I didn't catch it.
........27mpg @ 65mph.................NICE!

No, just tell them what the Tirerack.com price is. They'll verify it themselves. Then, they'll add the cost that you would have been charged for shipping. It's still a better price than what Discount will quote at first.
Casba great to hear from you. Hope all is well. I did the same as MD and went to Discount and told them the price online for Tire Rack for my BFG KDW/2. They have been a great tire for me. Discount take pretty good care of their customers.
I did some checking with some mazda mechanics at racing beat and basically the Hot water for the TB is for cold starts and winter states. And anyone that is racing and or in high heat states should do the bypass. Little gains if any will be made but, racing beat guy said most people he knows has done the bypass. I think us in the western states should have no issues of being too cold or experince icing of the TB. I found another site that was saying 70 degrees air intake temp is ideal if it can be acheived. As air is more dense it allows more fuel and combination equals more horsepower. So Fred that probably explains a little why your MPG went down so much in the rain and sure some drag factor on tires on wet road. Again I have only talked to a few people and pulled things from the internet so I can be wrong here.
So we were thinking lunch in Madrid? did we want to go to the top of the Crest first then back down to Madrid? or maybe to top on the way back from lunch. Also any suggestions for good meeting place? and times.

In credar crest there is a BBQ place that's good for lunch...I'll find the name and pass it on in a day or two....unless someone already knows the name... The place is in a small strip mall not far from the turn off to the crest.
