New MazdaManiac BASE Calibrations
ATTENTION -
If you are currently running a MazdaManiac base calibration, you will need to contact me as soon as possible for an updated version.
There is a bug in the calibrations that is tied to the newest firmware that may cause the AccessPORT to become unstable, lock up in the monitor mode and/or cause the calibration to be incorrectly loaded into the PCM.
This seems to only affect the North American and European calibration, but please feel free to contact me for an update no matter what your location is if you are still on a "v4.0.0" calibration.
Those with "v4.0.1" and higher needn't worry as your calibration should already be updated, especially if you received your most recent file within the last 3 months.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

out in the garage right now, about to do a DataLog but ran into a problem.
The car was idling as I was setting the Data Log List when the AP told me it could not connect to ECU (car was on) and the Tach started fluctuating between 500 - 2500 rpm. (though the car's idle was unchanged)
turned the car off, unplugged the AP and plugged it back in. The tach is steady but Traction Controll Off light is still on.
Now have the following Codes:
PCM U0073
IC: U1900
EPS: U1900, U0073
RKE: U1900

Dont want to reset the codes as it'll reset the ECU and I'll lose the fuel trims. hmmm...
Gonna go google search those and see what I come up with.

This exactly just started happening, especially at high rpms for the tach problem... I have the workshop manual and looked up the codes but im no pro when it comes to electrical problems... I will look at the harness' to see if there is any bare wires but any help would be appreciated

RE: U1900, U0073
For a very brief time (I was an AP early adopter) I was getting these codes every time I would flash a map. At the time Cobb was still supporting the RX8 (I think they had actually just released the AP for it) and they quickly provided a firmware update that addressed my problem.
Incidentally, in the 3 (might be 4) years I've had an AP map installed I've experienced two ECM reboots. Both times my instrument panel lit up (TCS, CEL, etc) and the U1900 and U0073 codes were present. The last time it happened was about 3 months ago... before that was easily a year or so back.
I always chalked it up to a flakey PCM.
Those codes are all communication error codes...
If you have a crappy connection or something is wrong with your AP firmware you could be getting them
I would make sure the AP is updated...and check your connectins to the OBDII port and to the AP
Otherwise the errors could be in your PCM or wiring..
Most likely is OBDII connection to the AP

So you think I have a bad flash? That would make PERFECT SENSE then, ive been having glitches every once in a blue moon when im in the upper rpms since I have started my Cobb Tunes a year or so ago and I could never catch a video of it or able to explain it.
I noticed something was wrong with my car today when I was on the highway redlining 3rd and it started bogging at 80mph and when I let off a massive cloud of smoke came out my exhaust. Right before I pulled over I attempted to redline 1st and it bogged at 30mph and another massive cloud of smoke came out. I finally parked and checked my cobb for some codes in which I got a communication error (gears). I plugged it in again and had the codes. I noticed the smoke had a slight blue hue (I believe) which means oil so... looks like ill be contacting MM
Edit: Pretty sure my AP is up-to-date but I will check right now and report back...
Bam:
AP-MAZ-001 v1.6.1.1-13820
Serial: 705 (INSTALLED)
Vehicle: USDM 2005 RX-8 (MT - Fed.)

Could be...I would check all the connections and reload the flash...couldn't hurt
Have to ask Jeff what kind of problems like that he has run into....personally I would think it is a one off glitch with your unit rather than anything to get too freaked about

I cleared my ECU before I had dinner with my father at the California Pizza Kitchen (BBQ Chicken Pizza is delicious btw). I left about an hour later, started up the car and drove home. I redlined it quite a bit and the smoke/bogging happened 2 times out of my 50 redlines or so. When I got home I had no codes though so
I will reflash my tune but I still think the problem IS my tune... so fingers crossed it will help...

Sounds like you need to work on your tune
U codes aren't usually a problem..they show up even without the AP loaded....they usually resolve themselves and don't come back
Likely as the cars get older they will show up more...the CANbus is loaded with all kinds of error checking and freaks out when it doesn't like what it sees

Say once a month
got a couple nooby questions about the AP and MM tuning. I just bought mine and will be runing just the stock stage 1 map once i get it installed. According to cobb this will get me about 13hp and 11 tq. My car is stock so how much more beneficial, power wise, would it be to get MM to do a stage 2 or stage 3 map for me and what would it cost?
sorry for the nooby questions, new to all the upgraded map stuff as i just bought it and couldnt find what i was looking for anywhere else.

You can also look at the very first post to the thread which has a link to the Instructions Instructions on how to follow the Instructions for getting a tune.
I have the Accessport bought from MM. Bought it some time ago. Back then we were able to download "Base Calibration" maps to use as an entry level maps before beginning the tuning process. I have MM Base FI map. I am now going to NA after a rebuild so the FI map is useless. I remember there was also a MM NA Base map. I was never able to use the Custom Calibration service..shortly after purchasing the AccessPort with the calibration service included I blew an apex seal...
