if he has them in stock and he isnt travelling around to anywhere, then he would get it to you as quick as possible

i got mine in about a week because he had them in stock and he was available. super-quick.

if MM is in town, he usually ships them out VERY quickly. I know he's been under the weather lately and I believe he's on the road.
Be a little patient with him, he's an awesome seller! You'll have yours soon and it'll definitely be worth the wait.

Ok, so one last question about the MM AP...I know that MM is boosted so he's probably tuned the maps with that in mind...and it is great that his tweaks have Cali crap gas in mind...and I love that the fan trigger temps are set lower too (this will help a lot at the track)...but I don't plan on boost anytime soon...would the maps be ideal for someone like me with a near-stock N/A setup?

most of the people who purchase ap's from jeff are NA. He has more maps available for NA users than FI because in FI there really isn't too much of a range of acceptable AFRs. We want to be somewhere around 11.5 and leave it at that.

Can you summarize the process to me then?
I buy the AP from MM instead of Cobb.
He sends me custom maps?
Or just a few maps for approximate setup?
A.K.A. what am I getting from MM specifically?
Sorry to be thick...I learn slow most fo the time, but once I catch on it's solid

you buy from jeff or cobb, and you pay the same price from either location.

however with cobb you get one stage1 map.

with jeff (mazdamaniac) you get the same cobb maps, but also his custom tunes. You basically tell jeff what your car setup is, what year/make/location, and mods, and he emails you the custom maps.

since he's out now, i don't think there will be any action till next week on his part. he's almost always here, so this is a once in a life time thing

Thanks for the replies and not getting frustrated...so what if my setup changes? For example I am looking to do the ignition solution in the Fall...will MM continue to provide maps? How does he make money off this? Just exposure? What's the long term outlook for the relationship between him and his customers?

His maps are more than just stage1,2,3 tunes, he increases omp flow rates, lowers the turn on times for radiator, and deletes cels like missing cat (if you are catless). So no xmas tree lights on your dash.

The protuner software jeff uses costs $1,500 alone. So I assume he plans to keep this up for a while to recoup his initial investment. In a few months we expect the single user version of the software to be available, so if you wanted to crack at the maps yourself you could. There is going to be a built in profit margin selling the AccessPort for MSRP, however given how long it takes to setup and now to handle all the customer requests, this really is a labor of love, rather than a full time business. At least he can somewhat justify to his wife that he's not just playing around now

Jeff's been helping out the rx8 community for a very long time. He was among the first to get turbocharged (I think he had FI before the greddy kit was available). So given past experiences, I don't think you should be worried.

short term he's working on an individual basis if you can give him data... longer term he's hinted at a subscription service for tuning, which i can't blame him since the number of AP's he's supporting will get overwhelming quickly

It's not a matter of trust...I trust anyone that Ray backs...but how is the kid making any money???

Cobb site has it priced at $695: http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=3812

Jeff also has it priced at $695: http://www.mazdamaniac.com/cobb/accessport.htm

What am I missing here?

Resellers do not buy products at MSRP. I don't know what the markup is, but it's worthwhile the built in support you get. If you buy elsewhere, right now he doesn't have the bandwidth to support you - later you can purchase a subscription to get support.

Alot of 13 to 12.5s per my friends when they read it as a co pilot.

I never removed it. Drove about 120 miles. Alot of it on cruise. Kept out of the danger zone.

I really need to get it on a data logger.

Jedi... the force is calling you!

you still have a cat, arent you worried of killing your cat?

13-12.5's are what the stage 1 aims for, so it doesnt seem too lean...

but if it sometimes goes higher than 13 then that cant be so good.

FUEL TRIMS LESS THAN 12 ARE OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeezuz f-ing kristo. How many more times do i need to explain that??????

Stop checking your trims !!!!!!!!

It only matters in the very first couple of minutes after you start the car for the first time on a new calibration.

Now I have two WBO2's to read....
