Well this thread is huge, the more technical info confuses me and Im looking to soon be an owner of an access port and tune from MM.

Few questions:

a) How many tunes is expected until Im sorted?
b) Will adding a header half way through require another tune? (I assume no? base upon a few other answers but I havent seen Jeff confirm this.)
c) When will I be able to get my CEL cleared for my decat? Will this come with the base calibration or do I have to request it?
d) Whats the results like? lol. Obvious question really. Are they significantly noticable? Mods so far AEM CAI, BHR midpipe and Borla cat back. This point is mostly due to in the UK the rx8 does seem to have trouble comparatively to many cars around I.E. Rep-mobiles BMW's, Audi's and the like. And turbo'd shopping trollies (turbo'd hatch backs - focus st/ golf gti/ megane sport/ ep3 civics - not turbo but still etc.)

Please dont burn me to a cinder with flamage :P

But there is a group buy going on in the UK and these questions are going to be asked on our forum I imagine.

Thanks

Nick

a) as many as 6-8
b) unsure, but I'd imagine it changes the tune some
c) unsure (haven't toyed with mine yet), but I think you can clear it without tunes. Just plug in the AP and check the code, clear it. The AP comes preloaded with certain features.
d) Results vary. By the example you've given, I'd say that you can expect anywhere from 10-20hp gain. You won't get much better than that, unless you go forced induction

a: as few as 1 to "as many as it takes"
b: it shouldnt, but you would want to include it in a resend of the 11 deadly questions if you add one
c: you can have MM put the cel mask in your first tune even if you currently run with a cat
d: results will not usually tickle your butt dyno. HP gains have been seen with the AP tune. Expect higher OMP rates, more stable AFR's and a cleaner looking graph if you ever dyno youyr car.

I believe the headers won't effect your tune as anything after the engine is not accounted for in the tune.

just wondering how many days it takes to get a new tune? I've send mine in about 5 weeks ago to get the 4.0.2.

Thanks for the response guys (and gals if there are any about =P )

Rather helpful and its good to here more confirmation that adding the header half way through shouldn't be too problematic.

The gains seem reasonable enough (I assume you mean all mods included + the map )

Otherwise 10-20 would be ridiculous, just for a map lol. (ridiculously good that is =P )

I am going on 11 weeks now, but am wondering how long it takes for other people right now. I am fine waiting for 15 weeks if that's what it takes but I want some roughy estimate, just to keep myself from thinking that Jeffs email got lost in my mailbox.

If you got the email confirming your submission was good, then keep checking your directory if you're afraid you've lost the email that it was completed.

right....

Can people clear up one thing then....

So many of you have been waiting some time now for your tunes. Now, is this the first tune after being sent the base calibration? Or is it one of the other further down the line?

If it is waiting for the first tune, is it safe to just run the base calibration until then? And any consequences (increased fuel consumption, crazy afr's etc?) Or is it safe?

Orrrr do you revert back to a standard map?

Bit confused on that aspect of things really as mine is a daily driver and I couldn't be without using it/ massively restricted for an extensive period of time....

Any advice/ info?

Thanks

Nick

It is safe to run your car with the base calibration since nothing has been changed yet.

Base is fine, you get more oil to the seals, the fans turn on sooner to keep the engine cooler, and one other think I forgot.

I have tracked with the base and the car was happy.

Ahhhhhhh, a good question....

I want to say something like 180, but there is a chance I am making that up. Stock is something like over 200, but I could be making that up as well. Someone help? Please?

If it was supposed to ship out yesterday, I'm sure it did. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get a tracking number shortly.

im using the greddy turbo and have a number of other mods.i see alot of us waiting for the custom calibrations.am i going to be ok with any base map that i can choose from with the ap? i know having it will allow me to ditch the emanage.but, will i safely be able to do so on day 1 with my ap?im so excited to see all the hard work ive done to my 8 pay off with a good tune.i just hope that after i wait for my ap to arrive i wont be waiting more for a tune i can safely use.

The base map is not for going into boost.... you need to submit data for a calibration... and it takes time. I'm in the same situation as you... my car is turbo'd but I still havent hit a positive manifold pressure as I'm waiting for my MM calibration
