Could you just bend up the bracket that holds the OBDII connector under the steering column? I can't remember, but I think I did that when I installed my sCANalyzer cable.

BTW, was using the Hymee tonight, just watching the AFR... don't have a AP yet, but really looking to get one. Right now my idle once warmed up is 14.9 - 15.0, and going into 12's under heavy acceleration... and backfiring at almost every shift.

I should be able to log with the Hymee on the car computer to help the tuning process along right?

Now if somebody would buy my damn Axis wheels off the For Sale board I could snap up one of these remaining two APs!!!

Jeff, do i need different calibrations to lower my AF???

Jeff,

Why are changejat's AFR's so lean, yet Razz has his in the high 12's to mid 13's? Is it due to the mods?

Is this just do to every car/PCM being a bit different and takes the tuning differently?

The above AFR seem really lean for that high of RPM's, am I wrong.

It might help people choose the flashes if you post up what the AFR should be at a particluar RPM and at what particlular load% or accelerator pedal position (like cruise/50-75% and WOT)

Smile One to Go.

Just ordered one from Jeff through Pay Pal. By my count, one left from the current batch. Of course I'm old and senile.

So as i said so far so good. It flashed fine. It runs fine. I scrolled through all the AP live data stuff without a hitch. Currently the LTFT is still between 0 and -1 so I will monitor after my commute back and forth to work tomorrow and see where it settles....
After my trip to work all is still good. No AP connectivity issues. My LTFT is settling out at -2 at idle and 1 on load... so I think the 0 map is where i'll be staying.

I was a little more aggrsive with the throttle and everything seems very smooth and responsive but haven't gone WOT just yet. My idle seems to wonder between incredibly smooth and rough with some lean afr's... have to see if that will dial itself in better.

I wonder if chancejat has an ignition coil problem?

Back in my cz tuning days I was checking my tune and was in the upper 14's WOT and freaked out. I blanked out the maps and I was still in the 14's and continued to freak out. Took the whole thing out and still was in the 14's... a few days later my CEL began flashing and my coils were hosed. I never put the CZ back in but checked the stock afr's and returned to the stock 11's after the coils were replaced.

It will probably smooth out, but you might want to try the vX_1a just to see what happens.
Fuel trims are erased when you reflash, but I've found that it relearns better if you do a reset right after you flash.

Bad coil is a possibility.
You would think a bad coil would yield a rich A/F, but you never know.

I finally have real news to report.

Last night, I recirculated my BOV back into the intake tube just AFTER the MAF sensor. This morning I drove to work in my RX-8. There is no more BOV sound, which is unfortunate, but the car drives like it's an OEM car. I literally cannot tell when the car is in boost and when it isn't. I was driving in traffic and wanted to move a little faster, the car moved, and when I looked at the gauge, I was pushing 2 psi boost and there was no transition that could be felt. When I let off the gas, the AFR's were fine, no stalling, no backfiring, no nothing. It just worked.

The thing about past fuel management systems was that you could literally feel a "wall" as you approached 0 psi. You couldn't just accelerate and go into boost with a gentle throttle. You needed to push down a bit more to get over the hump and go from 0 psi to 1 psi and above. There is none of this now.

Aside from how awesome the AccessPort is for fuel management, I can also report that the GReddy MAF housing with a crappy $17 filter from autozone seems to work fine. I did a pull up to 8,000 rpm on the way to work at 7 psi and felt no issues. AFR was a SOLID 10.5 the entire way. The AFR's could be a little leaner, but right now I don't care. I will be trying out my target 11 PSI soon as I get the new intake. Baby steps.

I'll give it another drive cycle and see what happens.

Per the ignition coil i was pondering the same question back then with afr and a coil failure. I guess it comes down to if the O2 sensor sees the air that didn't combust or the raw fuel that didn't combust. In my case it seemed to be the air.

Sounds good. I kept the A/Fs a little on the rich side until I was certain that the scaling for your P2 injectors was correct.
Once you have made it out to redline at your target boost in all gears, we can move the lambda target to wherever you want it to be.
I keep mine right around 11:1 to cover for the potential for bad gas and lots 'o desert heat. Still, that is a 0.5:1 improvement to the lean side over where I kept it with the EMU.
You've got good gas there, so 11.5:1 with more aggressive timing is a real possibility.
Your intake bits are here. Once I get these two upgrade kits out the door this afternoon, I'll mock up your intake and send it out.

yeah, I figured it's on the safe side. But while 10.5 sounds real rich, the car pulled.

The fact that I can sit here and say, "oh, it's a tad rich" is a great accomplishment. My interceptor-x AFRs went haywire after the ignition coil upgrade was installed, so for this to just work with a map designed for my maf size and injector sizes without anyone physically looking at my car and accounting for any other settings on my vehicle out of the box... I'm quite happy with the results.

Oh snap. I don't think I've ever made it to redline in 6th.

2.0...STFT +/- 2 ~0...LTFT 5...smooth as butta...

Ya know...I'm starting to wonder if its just a fluke that its doing so well...maybe I'm missing something here...it just shouldnt be this easy...feels wrong almost...

Good job MM...You give me that "not so fresh" feeling that requires "scrubbing the dirty" off in a hot shower...good times...good times...

chancejat is skewing the bell curve - I don't have those numbers. Mine are perfect so far, but now I can't find my scanalyser cable...

LOL!
The fuel map for 5th is the same, so that is good enough.

I'm pretty sure he would by at rotation speed a bit before that. Too bad there are no ailerons on an RX-8.

So as long as the STFT is hovering @ 0 on avg at idle...the LTFT should be ignored for the most part? Just nagging in the back of my mind I guess...5 isnt a big deal...

Actually, now that your trims are stabilizing, you add up the LTFT and STFT and use the calibrations that corrects the result.

If you have a sum that is, say -4, go to the calibration that is 2 values up in the "b" series.
