Cobb AccessPORT Discussion
I saw Jeff yesterday. He told me that Cobb has been upgrading their software. Every time they do this he has to go in and update his library of maps. All 1200+ of them. This has been time consuming for him I know.
can't he just update the map I sent him though? It would be nice to drive my car without the potential of it blowing up.
That lazy bastard! 1200 is a number smaller than a million, therefor inconsequential.
Updates...
Is he doing those updates by hand? I've not seen what the files look like but it shouldn't be difficult to write a C or Java application to spin through the files to modify values.
I don't know the format of their files, nor even looked at them, but I'd take a stab in the dark that they are a "secret".
Cheers,
Hymee.
I wish I could have an unlocked map and just edit it myself or with a tuner since its almost impossible to reach jeff
I have my turbo upgrade sitting in the garage. Cant do anything without tuning

Hehe, at least you have a garage. My turbo kit including intercooler, manifold, gauges etc are all piled in boxes in my living room. Granted I'm not just waiting on tunes at this point because I just decided to get the BHR ignition upgrade before I install the turbo. *shrug*

I have a question concerning knock. On the AP even though I am boosted right now, even when I was N/A the AP wasnt picking up knock under live data. Today I datalogged a little bit, and for some odd reason it doesnt pick up knock. I know pretty much every car has knock. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on with my AP/car?
Even more so in a boosted application. If you are depending on the factory knock sensor to save you from blowing your motor I would suggest finding another method to tune your RX8. You'll blow your motor under boost way before the PCM will detect knock.
I've already had instances where the motor has had detonation and the PCM didn't see it, other times when there was no detonation and the PCM said there was. It cries wolf too many times to be dependable.
Now, from what I understand the 09 has had some changes to the knock sensor to make it more accurate...

PTM files
That is assuming the formats (both old and new) of the Access Port files are completely open and unencrypted, so one can read the contents of one of them, and translate the changes to the other.

Something is exposed somewhere however or it would not be editable at all.

Do you think I should unistall the AP even though I am just using it to read the AFRs. Maybe this is causing the car to act funny?

No I am still waiting for the FI calibration for the AP. I am using a N/A one. Is this the cause of my effect? I know that you are busy but should I unistall the AP for the time being until I can get a FI base map from you?
Yikes, J Cab, that's a really bad move. Your ecu doesn't even know what boost is unless you're using a specific FI map. If you were still getting 20:1 with the EM Ultimate, it wasn't doing its job, but by unplugging it and just using the AP with an NA map, you may as well be using nothing at all.
Everyone seems to foget his AFR's are also reading 14.7 on start up (think - cold motor ; open loop air pump on) and they never move... Pretty damn sure something is wrong with the sensor / pcm in relation tot he sensor.
And he was getting fuel cut in Vacuum at higher RPMS.
