Money is money but I for one, turn away business all the time if I think the customer is going to be difficult or unrealistic. It just depends how desperate you are for business. I have read and heard nothing but positive things about J Tran going back to my subie days. But I don't think they have been open solo for long.

Hey Stroudism - if you DO see Scott, try and get his home address for me.

He owes me $1200 and I'll be around Tampa this summer......

Wow, do you see what I mean? JTran Studios doesn't want business from RX-8s!!! They were supposed to tell me if they could work with the Cobb and they were having a meeting with a Cobb representative. They never called me back about it. I got my turbo install done at Secret Services Auto and they weren't very good either, but at least I'm boosted. Man this car is f---in fast!

I for one applaud a business owner who is conscious both of his client's requests and what that means to the business' bottom line.
At the end of the day a business owner must always consider how their time is best spent and at what price they can part with that time.

Whether it be with the smallest of companies, with car shops, or even in my industry where I'm asked to manage billions of dollars for my clients; if when all is said and done, it is not a good fit for BOTH parties, then someone needs to recognize that and not be afraid to stand firm. Sometimes that's the client not wanting to pay more and other times it's a business who simply refuses to be paid less because it no longer is a wise business decision for them. People need to remember that a business transaction is a TWO-WAY street and the customer is not always right.

I've only heard good things about jtran, but they are not a poor mans shop. They are good at what they do and charge a premium for it.

I called for an estimate on installing shocks/springs and was quoted 8 hours of labor and price of 400 something. A decent shop named sals autosport in houston quoted 280. Sals is pretty good too and was way cheaper. Fortunately I manned up and did the install with ross dawg instead of paying a shop to do it.

If I was tuning a car though, I'd want to pay to make sure its done right, and I'd go to MM for cobb tuning, anything else i'd take to jtran

Before you go badmouthing a company for not knowing "how to tune" you should realize who and what you are contacting.

If you did YOUR research you would know that Maz-Max doesn't do tuning. In fact they don't do performance work at all.

Maz-Max is a parts house and dismantler. In the past they performed factory repair type work and other straight-forward mechanic style jobs.

Think before you speak, lest you look like an idiot.

Amber, you NEVER called me back!!! I was fine with the price. YOU said that you had to speak to your Cobb representative about getting a license to tune all Cobb vehicles, because at the time, I didn't realize that I could download a free version of AccessTUNER for my Cobb, and you didn't either. You said after you meet with your rep on such and such a day, you would then give me a call. I never got a call back, you simply forgot about me, yet you stand here and make me look like I'm an unreasonable human being. I truly was hoping to do business with you. Did you ever get the Cobb license?

I got some wrong information then, as somewhere I was told they could do that.
