and the mazdaspeed mech. *the only ones alowwed to work of rx8 engines* Don told me that its easy to prevent it from happening. Al u do is rev to about 3k then turn the engine off while its at that rpm and just let it cycle till it shuts down.

Welcome Mike.

Check out our Lakefront Meet thread if you'd like to join us on Sun 4/29. Or our New Orleans BBQ thread for pics of our local cars the last time we met up.

116k miles?! Wow. I've had mine since 11/03 and I have 59k! I thought that was alot. It's good to know yours is still kicking bc I don't foresee ever letting go of mine. Any major issues lately?

As far as the flooding issue goes... mine was flooded once, by Delta World Tire on Vets bc they had it overnight when I had my wheel studs changed. They moved it out of a bay in the am and immediately turned it off. Some of you may rem that. In fact that's when I made my infamous "Key Tag" that I use when anyone else has to drive it! I dunno about the rev to 3k & turn it off there thing. I've heard that's good practice for the oil pump. I just never turn mine it off cold & that's worked all these years, I'll stick to that! I don't know why Ed would've said that btw. That isn't normal Ducote practice!

Edit/Add: When my car was flooded, I called Paretti bc they're across the street from Delta W.T. and they were jerks! They gave my attitude, said it would be 2 weeks before they'd look at it and I wouldn't get a rental til then! Ducote immediately sent a wrecker, provided me with a rental and 2 days later I was rolling w/new plugs, battery & starter completely covered under warranty! That was THE last time Paretti ever heard from me. Plus Ducote just rocks!

thats opposite from me....i've heard of ducote being a bitch to get work done with and paretti usualy being the easier place......plus the owner of the paretti dealerships is a best friend of my family so i get what i want. The only person i know who has bad ties with paretti is my friend clyde who hates paretti cause when he blew up his mazdaspeed protege and couldn't screw them into bbuying him a new motor. but thats his fault =/
I find it funny when i see or hear people talk **** about paretti when most of them don't even understant the way dealerships work....but w/e

and BTW for the record.......NEVER EVER bring your car to brian harriss mazda in slidell...

maybe being friends w/your family helps. and im not the only one to have bad paretti experiences. oh and paretti was supposed to send me a refund check for a part that i bought that they ended up able to cover under warranty. never received it. and i well understand how dealerships work. but some dealerships (or some of their employees) don't understand professionalism and customer service/courtesy. to each his (or her) own.

Haha. They were honking & whistling at our cars. Sep maybe the person who yelled my name outta that truck ~shrug~ Someone yesterday at my eye dr appt on Vets said he recognized my car from the Earhardt Expwy the day before. He advised me not to commit a crime bc my car is so noticeale & memorable. Ted called me, too. He saw me on Vets.

no one's arguing. we have differences in opinions is all. i don't give a s*** enough to argue. all i care about is getting good service on my 8 and mingling amoungst friends here. while you're out, take a chill pill or when you come back, find another thread. this thread is 10 months old and 30 pages long, with no "irritations" til now. have a nice day.

Chill out. I get good service from Paretti, But I know people who don't. Most of the problems that occur with the members starts with the service manager. Some dont take the time to know their clients and it shows when they are stressed out. I know how dealerships work, I have been there- done that. Sometimes they bend the rules too much and get in trouble, then what happens? thee next 8 that rolls through the service lane gets screwed. Good service is when a service writer tries to see whats wrong with your car and tries to solve the issue before writing it up and taking your keys.I have gotten this from Ryan at Paretti and from Keith at Ducote. And when a problem is diagnosed from the service writer, it makes things alot easier. When it is not diagnosed, the service writer will put a short description on the work order and let the technician figure it out. and when this happens, the tech will do the easier jobs first and then the trobleshooting ones. I've done that, alot of mechanics do that. Paretti is just under staffed. Its not their fault.this stuff happens.

I saw Keith yesterday to see about my headlights. My headlights were starting to get very hazy on the upper half of the cover. I wanted to know if was a normal thing with the 8. If it wasn't,I was going to polish the housings.Keith came out and thought it was burnt from waxing. I told him it hasn't been waxed in a year and this just started happening. Well he rubbed his finger on it, and it came off. lol. It seems that my lack of washing the car created a mildew build up on my headlights! .....thanks Keith. now I know I have the dirtiest 8 around here.

ebay bro...goto ebay motors and then the car and truck parts area as usual...and type *RX8 JDM Side Markers* in the search. Guy in japan sell em, $43 plus $7 shipping, so $50 shipped to ur house. Takes about 6-7 days depending on how slow the postal service is..mine to about 10 days.

And yea i'm an electrician and we do all their electrical work *you should see some of the old **** that was done originally, its amazing its taken so long for problems to occur with some of it* so i'm around there quite a bit well a lot actualy heh. I've seen some pretty amazing and pretty moded RX8's come through there...and sadly enough i'm the first person they have ever seen with hood dampeners on a 8

peck, peck, peck... lmao. woah- im impressed, i think...

i agree about the whole stress thing, lack of help, etc. which is why i quoted in ( ) "or some of their employees". that's also why i gave them more than one chance, three or so actually.

anyhoo- i haven't had any electrical issues, flickering of lights or any other "weaknesses". what else does that grounding kit help or improve?
