I have to disagree. These teams want to win points and the Manufacturer's Championship. They can't afford to give the #2 driver inferior equipment on purpose. And, they have a budget where they don't need to. The alternator was likely tested on some sort of alternator dyno built specifically to test them under race conditions. The wings were extensively tested in their wind tunnel and they were certain that they were superior, to the existing unit, before they were put on the car.
Now, If they didn't bring enough parts to the race, I can see that happening. But, they wouldn't make a practice of it.

What years were the golden years then, lets look at the race results. I used to spout off about how awesome the 80's were, barely remembering them, then looked at the race results, the same 3 or 4 drivers win, so many DNF's through the field, and you think the back markers are slow this year? They were being lapped 5-7X over in races in the 80's.

Pick some great years, lets have a look? Whan was the last time 7 drivers won 7 different races to start the season, when did the WDC not become apparent until the last 4-5 races? This season was spectacular.

You are right RBR does not want Mark to win races of finish in the top, the WCC means nothing to them.

While I post my Ferrari FIA jokes tongue in cheek, I suspect you really believe all the conspiracy theories.

Marks car is as fast as Sebs, there are many Qualifying sessions where Mark is only hundredths slower and in some instances a tad faster. Both cars are stellar, both drivers, in the race, are not.

In fact, it did happen. Mark and Sebastian both had a new wing on the car. Sebastian damaged his in practice or qualifying and Mark had to give his to Sebastian. Was a fun press conference after where he slams his glass on the table when the press asked about it. Mark went on to win the race anyway and on his in lap said "not bad ey for a nr 2 driver" to the team.

Ferrari has done it all season. They used Massa to test out new parts. If they worked they were on alonso's car the race after.

Mark had 4 DNF because of the alternator. Sebastian had 2. You really think (if they had to) they wouldn't give Sebastian a new one and put Sebastian's old one on Mark's car? The whole season they were struggling with it because there weren't enough to go around (plenty of articles about it) of the new ones.

Read my edited post on previous page. I added to it before i saw yours. This season was great for sure. Just wish the ending was better. I would have been ok with vettel winning fair and square but he just didn't.

Prost senna got decided in the last race twice, Schumacher hill last race, Schumacher villeneuve last race, Schumacher alonso last race, alonso raikonnen Hamilton last race, Massa Hamilton last race. Just a few from the top of my head. Im sure there's loads more.

OK so that is the WDC between 2 drivers that battled all season. 7 races 7 different winners o start the season, most every car finishing on the lead lap, very little attrition during the race in some races everyone finished. Wildly varying podiums all season long.

Sorry, this last season is one for the books, it will be looked back at as one of the best ever.

Blazen - it is too bad you live in Ohio, if you were closer I would be down for some beers over a race next season, your passion for the sport is evident. I respect that. Even if we root for opposing teams.

I agree. Was a great season. Only thing i wished for was that Schumacher would get a win. Almost happened too if his team put his wheel on tight in China lol! Other than that i loved it.

I actually miss engines blowing up in a cloud of smoke and pistons lol. Damn things are too reliable now.

I went in 2011 and I am still soaked from that. I did get to meet Will Buxton for beers with a small crowd of about 250 other fans in a little pub Saturday night.

If I decide to go in 2013 I will let you know.

When I get to a pub do I look for the guy wearing the tinfoil hat?

Nah I'll probably be wearing a Ferrari cap or a Caterham cap. If Guido van de Garde gets a seat next year. He can't drive worth a Damn but he's a countryman so I might have to.

Wouldn't it be **** if Speed decided to go out with bang and do a F1 2012 marathon weekend playing all 20 races back to back?

That's 35-40 hours lol! They probably will do a rerun once a week till March. All but the main presenter go over to the new channel. I forgot his name. He's the only American lol!

I fear it's done for Kobayashi. I loved watching him race but he got his *** kicked by Perez. He was the more experienced one. He got a podium in Japan and I think that'll be the highlight of his F1 career. There are only a few seats left and plenty of drivers. I don't see it happening. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am. I don't think we'll see HRT again next year either.

Bob Varsha, and Speed is changing it's name to Fox Sports+ next year. Likely so they can have more inane baseball programming like they do with NASCAR.

Bribery scandal could end Ecclestone's reign in F1 - Autoweek

This is good and bad. Good in that we will be rid of Bernie. Bad in that he doesn't have a succession plan implemented, in spite of these charges and his age (82).

I read a while ago that they're talking to the guy that runs British soccer or something to take over.

It's confirmed that Vettel overtook the Indian under actual yellow flags.
Ferrari has time 'till this Friday to make an inquiry to the FIA on why they didn't handle him a penalty.
I think that it's possible that they just overlooked it, since the pack was crashing, spinning and fighting... a backrunner might not get the deserved attention.

Now the question is.. will Ferrari act? A 20 seconds post race penalty would result in Alonso winning the championship...

They are the sole holders of any jurisdiction on the matter.
The least they could do is tell why they didn't handle the penalty. The most they could do is handle a 20' post race penalty.

The problem is that, by either just negating or admitting that Vettel overtook under yellows without handing him a penalty would lose the FIA a lot of credibility.

Maybe they can bring in Brian Barnhart as a consultant on what to do.

I'm not seeing any mention of this in any of my news feeds yet.
