NBC got the F1 rights...and brother...i'm really apprehensive of what the hell they're going to do with it. I heard one rumor that they would only show a couple races for free and then put the rest on pay per view....WTF!!!!! Aln probably has the scoop on the specifics...haven't heard much here lately

Ferrari is ferrari, and i'm italian. I can't help but root for them!

@ATL: Don't worry, i'll tell you where to watch f1 for free should **** happen.... Sky should have purchased the rights as well, it may disappear from state tv here.

Major pity.

LOL F1 is awesome, but if who ever picked up F1 thinks people are going to pay to watch, they must have tons of bse50 (sigh i forgot the other ferrari fan here, who avatar has a blond bending over a ferrari) working for them. Being delusional isn't going to get you anywhere :P

So atl are you still with the silver knights? i wonder if mazmart is too and permsitt. does he still post here?

Not pay-per-view. They will be on pay tv (eg cable network), NBC Sports network. Coverage is suppose to be at least as good as Speed. If you were watching the last race you heard that the all of the on-air commentators, except for Varsha, are going to the new network.
Speed is going to be renamed Fox Sports Plus. Fox just bought the rights to MLB and I think they needed a place to broadcast that. I have heard that most of the motorsports programming will be moved to Fuel TV. I don't know where all the skate board, bmx bicycles and "Thrillbillies" programming will go. I don't think teenagers are as attractive audience as motorsports fans.

Silver Knights fans, I found this interesting.

Jackie Stewart says Circuit of the Americas must improve roads for U.S. Grand Prix - Autoweek

Stewart suggested to F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone that he should host a race in Bahrain and the first one took place in 2004. The 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix was notoriously canceled after a political uprising in the country and although it went ahead this year, there is already talk of the 2013 race being under threat. Stewart said that Bahrain's rulers have taken steps to accommodate the demands of the majority Shia population who were behind the uprising. However, he added that this may not be apparent immediately and it is part of a long process.

“They have got to change but it will not happen in five years, never mind 12 months,” he said. “It's not true that nothing has happened since we were there . . . my view is that we really need that region of the world because it is one of our biggest allies for energy and all sorts of things in the economy.”

Bahrain's Mumtalakat wealth fund owns 50 percent of the McLaren F1 team, and Stewart said, “If you didn't have Bahrain you wouldn't have McLaren.”

Bernie Ecclestone wants Formula 1 field cut to 10 teams - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com

Formula 1 would be better off with just 10 teams as long as Ferrari is one of them, according to Bernie Ecclestone.

Oh helll yeah, I will ALWAYS be a McLaren man...but I will say this...if Button and Hamilton are neck and neck...I'm gonna have to root for Hamilton. But as far as teams go, yeah I'm still with McLaren...for SURE!!

Yeah Aln...I caught that...which is fine with me, I though Varsha was the weak point of the trio anyway...Hobbs CRACKS ME UP!!!!! He's always been a favorite. And thanks for clearing that up about the pay per view/pay TV thing

Finally, Aln...I'm glad you caught that about "too many teams" in F1...Didn't Bernie say he wanted more teams a couple years ago??? Why is he flip flopping? Or maybe I'm thinking it was Mosley that wanted more teams???? Either way, I wish they would make up their friggin minds about what they want!!

Bernie is full of hot air and will change his mind depending on which direction the wind is blowing that day.

FIA concerned fatter F1 cars could be slower than Le Mans prototypes in 2014 - report

F1's governing body backtracked on aerodynamic changes for the 2014 season because of fears the next generation of cars would be too slow.

After the recent World Motor Sport Council meeting in Turkey, the FIA announced that scheduled bodywork rule changes for 2014 to reduce downforce have been replaced by "2012 specification".

Not in my mind. If they narrowed the width at the bottom of the car, there would be less space to create downforce. Ground effects is part of the reason that passing is difficult. Make the cars rely more on mechanical grip.

That would slow the cars down even more. They need to lift restrictions. More downforce, more cylinders, higher rpm limit and tires that'll allow for maximum attack racing for 20-30 laps.

Either that or they will restrict the 2014 le mans cars.

One Piece at a Time: This Brit Is Building an F1 Car in His Backyard

Dumpster diving yields better results when it’s done in the correct dumpster. Kevin Thomas, a regular bloke living near Brighton, England, is surrounded by fantastic dumpsters. In his garden shed, Thomas is slowly putting together his own Formula 1 car based on parts from a 2001 British American Racing 003. The idea came to him after seeing an F1 car in a Renault showroom. Not long after, he saw an F1 tub listed on eBay. The auction ended with no bidders, so he sent the lister an e-mail. It worked. Thomas told Racecar Engineering magazine: “[The seller] turned up on my doorstep with a Reynard BAR  01 and a BAR 003. I paid him cash for the pair.”
