As I wrote earlier: Something was fucked in Jensons setup which caused him to have no rear grip in Q2. He was 0.6 seconds slower in Q2 than Q1 so there really was something wrong with the car in Q2.

But Hamilton is better over one lap than Button, definitly.

Paul.
Alonso is on the better side so slight advantage for him. Hamilton is deadly in the first few corners, even more so than Alonso. The McLaren gets the tires to perfect temperature faster than the Ferrari so I believe Alonso will have his hands full during the first 2 laps with Hamilton.

If he can hold him off for those laps then he will be able to survive Hamilton to the first stop. Both Webber and Vettel can do something silly too and slide down the field so it will be very exciting tomorrow.

They both had some of track excursions during practice. It will be interesting to see if they can hold on during the race.

Webber furious after losing new wing to Vettel - RESULTS

Mark Webber was furious after qualifying second for the British grand prix.

Red Bull brought only two examples of a new front wing design to Silverstone, and on Saturday morning Sebastian Vettel's broke during the pre-qualifying practice session.

The team took Webber's front wing off the sister RB6 and fitted it to Vettel's car before the young German secured pole in qualifying.

The previous specification was used by Webber, who qualified a tenth off Vettel's pace.

The story emerged immediately after qualifying, when Australian Webber refused to put his arm around Vettel for the usual post-parc ferme qualifying pose for photographers.

And the 33-year-old's face had not improved in the press conference, when he surmised that "the team is happy with the result".

Webber also did not stop for his usual talk with television interviews in the paddock.

Team boss Christian Horner said as recently as Friday afternoon that Webber and Vettel are treated "with transparency and equality", receiving "equal priority and treatment".

"I think the most important thing for any driver is to know that he's getting equality of equipment and priority," added the Briton.

Wow. That's crap! It completely shows favoritism. Especially with Webber only 12 points behind Vettel and has as many wins and podiums. He deserves and has an equal shot at the driver's title. He's also been more consistent this year. Horner really owes Webber an explanation if he wants him to keep racing for him.

If true must really suck for Webber. I think this might be his last year, so i am hoping he at least wins one championship before leaving F1. Which is why I am hoping he wins this year, one of the vets who deserve to win. If he doesn't win, then of course I want some one from McLaren to win.

As for Vettle he is young and will have many more chances to win championships.

Btw any one notice Alonso looking at the RB car very carfully at the podium parking. I bet he was thinking of ways to cut his contract with Ferrari short. He might start a huge fight then quit the team at the end of season (jking)

Here is Christian Horner's explanation. It makes a bit of sense but if it was true, why would Webber be angry. Hmmm, nope we don't buy this.

Christian Horner on Saturday fended off claims that Sebastian Vettel is being crudely favoured over his Red Bull teammate Mark Webber.

The RB6 is the runaway dominant car at Silverstone, but in morning practice one of two examples of a new front wing specification broke on Vettel's car.

The other new wing was fitted to Webber's car, so - based on "championship position and the performance in FP3" - it was taken away from the Australian and given to Vettel, team boss Horner explained whilst surrounded by reporters after qualifying.

23-year-old Vettel, 12 points ahead of Webber in the championship but trailing the lead of the McLaren drivers, went on to secure pole position with the wing.

Within memory of the team's handling of the teammates' Istanbul crash, Webber was visibly furious on Saturday afternoon, surmising that "the team is happy with the result".

Horner said the 33-year-old should not be angry.

"He knows there was no malice in the decision, no manipulation.

"Unfortunately we found ourselves in a situation with only one front wing of a certain specification.

"There was not really a laptime difference between the (new and old) specifications, but there was a slight difference in characteristics, with one driver expressing a slight preference for those characteristics," said the Briton.

Horner confirmed that Vettel preferred the new wing, but admitted that the decision might make it appear that the young German is being favoured.

"You don't always want to, but sometimes you have to take a difficult decision, and today that decision went with Sebastian," he said.

The main crux I believe is that they only had time to create two wings for this race. Vettel's wing broke, not due to a driver error, but due to weakness of construction: It vibrated apart.

So Red Bull felt that they owed both drivers a wing, and it really is a shitty situation. However, Mark crashed last race and is likely to be slightly out of form. Vettel kicked *** last race and is likely to be on a peak and kick *** this race too.

Solution: Give the better wing to the guy who will bring home 25 points for the constructors.

I really don't believe that they do this to spite Mark, but they just want as many points as possible to catch McLaren and they betted on the driver who has a form peak. Had Webber retained his form peak that he had 3 races, when Vettel couldn't touch him, he would have kept his wing too. But after the start in Valencia and also the fact that he qualified second there means that Vettel is currently faster.

Apparently I was wrong there. I must have fucked up the numbers in my head.
He is only two tenths slower than in Q1 and that could very well be a driver error.

14 1 Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1:31.435 1:31.699

I just wonder what happened to him and his car.

Grip issues, like Massa that couldn't bring the tyres up to temp

Anyway the warm up lap is over!

It is looking like the drivers are using their front wing to cut the tires of anyone trying to pass them.

I really feel sorry for Alonso. The drive through was pretty obvious that he would get it since the rules are very clear there.

If you cut a chicane and gain a position and don't hand it back you get a drive through. Without exceptions.

The problem was that Kubica left Alonso no room and he was forced to cut the corner. Alonso's temper flared and he stayed in front of Kubica. In hindsight not a very smart move.

I disagree with the penalty since Alonso would have managed the pass anyways, but I also agree out of a rule lawyer perspective. Because the rules says that if you cut a corner when passing you must hand it back or drive through. And you cannot make special interpretations of the rules, they must be iron.

And then Alonso was hit by Massa's bad luck to get a safety car just as he gets his penalty to be left in the end of the field. I really felt sorry for Alonso, but it was his own fault. He should have handed back the position and then passed Kubica a few turns later. He had the capacity to pass and should not risk a drive through.

We heard on the italian Tv, directly from the pit crew, that the judges immediately said that it was a clean pass so Alonso went ahead. Then they changed their decision and everything happened.
Well... F1 is becoming boring because of this long string of bad luck!

We already know who wins the world cup. Paul said Spain beats Holland. Not MazMart Paul, but the octopus Paul. And he KNOWS.

Another stupid move by Alonso. Whether he was pushed wide or not you should know that the FIA is ******* retarded with penalties so just give the spot back so it doesn't bite you in the *** later.

I'd say Ferrari should give up and focus on next year but they did that last season and still manage to screw it up and suck. Time for management to go bye-bye.

I'm glad to see Webber dominate like he did and LOVED his comments over the radio at the end. Screw Red Bull and screw Vettel. Webber FTW!

LMAO ALonso having a bad day means my day is going so well. I am not sure why ALonso just gave back the postion to kubica, its not like he wouldnt be able to pass him up again.

I can see it now, Ferrai is going to ask the FIA to tweak the rules for cars taking advantage on turns.

War Of The Roses

Q: When Mark Webber crossed the finish line he was heard saying, ‘Not a bad job for a number two driver!’ Did you notice that? And is the team spirit still good?
SV: I have my own opinion about that matter that I rather prefer to keep to myself and to focus on myself. I have made my experiences and, sometimes good or bad, you get to know people a little bit better and see their true faces. I think I have learned my lesson

His pit wall crew confirmed that it was a fine pass per the judges. The final decision came 15mins later and that was the culprit since kubica already retired at that point.
The fact is that it was Robert pushing him outside with malice, something that I liked since he showed some guts, and he also admitted that it wasn't fair to punish him twice since they were racing and Alonso was obviously faster.

Anyway Massa's race sucked so much that he cried after the race during an interview. The guy's got heart but no luck!

I am so glad that Webber is not bending over for his team. I think that is Twice this season that Webber is proving to his team that it should be 50/50 for both drivers. Not sure why Horner insist on favoring one driver.

Well then why didn't we hear the radio transmission from pit crew telling alonso that he didn't make a mistake? Since you know they play all radio chat live now. DId they use some person in the crowd to use flash lights to relay this message to alonso? We have seen how the Italian media likes to manipulate. If you are using them as actual fact then , but until I see a link that isn't Italian media then its hard for me to believe that the judges told Ferrari that Alonso was in the right.

Either way, Alonso should of gave back the place to kubica to avoid any gray areas in the rules. It wasn't like Alonso wouldn't be able to over take him again.
